Stoner/Doom Bassist Thread Part 6

I know you don't like the rat tail particularly but that clip of schwag I put up. My bass in the beginning is a RT. I'll do a clip with the sft and my RI DOD 250 also that's all the OD i have other then my tone hammer that's a whole other beast all together. P bass and rounds also?

Yeah i don't get the RT, I tried to like it but it sounds too much like a broken SS amp to me. I'm looking for a tone hammer to replace my Magma, until all the issues are sorted out.

P-bass, ric anything will do. I only have one bass with flats left and I don't typically use any effects with that. Once I get my custom sampeg I think that is going to scream for flats...

so i think i have my fuzz needs sorted, eventhough i still want to try the Bluebeard, but I have a few OD pedals on the way. typically i just get OD from my amp(s) but I'm finding since I replaced the speakers in my cab, i can't turn the amp loud enough to get the drive i like.

got a Dark Driving on the way, i owned one for a while and its a long story but after I sold it found out that when i tried to fix the LED that got disconnected during shipping I did it wrong and that ended up impacting the tone. So i'm giving it another try.

Also on the way, a McSpunkle And Aardvarks, as well as an HBE Hematoma. There is a B7K in the classifieds right now that if I hadn't already purchased all the above would have loved to try out.

Any other OD suggestions? Looking for something relatively warm/dark, not fuzzy and smaller footprint is ideal.

I had a Dark Driving and Hematoma. Both are VERY dark, the Hematoma has a harder and grindier OD/Distortion(which can be dialed back but its never organic), where the DD would only do a organic low gain OD. I'm interested to see how they react with your tube amp, I've got a mesa hybrid so my tubes need more help to get that woolly/organic OD sound. I'm using the SFT at 18v and I love it, I can set it so that when i turn it on there is an imperceptible change in my tone with the OD added in to taste(slightly warmer but not DARK like the DD and Hematoma), plus it drives my giant mid-scooped fuzz pedal beautifully at low and high gain settings. I like going from my mesa's clean tone into a overdriven SVT sound. Also finding I like the low gain settings at 18v's and the high gain at 9v's.

No issues, before the la Bella's I had chromes for a 2 years but before that SS Lo-Riders for about 4 years. I used to play with a very heavy left hand and even then the frets were fine. I have since "improved" my technique and I play with a much lighter touch.

I'm thinking of trying sunbeams since they are low tension and my white Ric is tuned standard. I'm finding more and more flats are not ment for my era Ric.

Interesting, I'll let you know how it goes when they get here. Dark is fine with me, I want something to sit under the mix with just the hint of fur.

I found sunbeams a little too scooped, even in standard tuning on the Ric you may find them too loose...i would recommend 110s if they offer them. But to me Nickel Lo-Riders are DRs best string if you are not looking for a lot high end clang.
