Stoner/Doom Bassists 51: Back To The Future

Cool, got us a gig with Windhand.

We were asked to play the Inter Arma gig in Pittsburgh but it was too close to our show with Pilgrim and Samothrace :(

I remember you saying it wasn't your thing. Totally understand, the vocals are interesting, but I really dig.

What album were you listening to ? Check out that Westward song I posted the link to. THeir new album is quite a bit better than their previous. Definitely coming into their own.

Check some of the reviews on it, as well. People are raving about it.

Haha me running dual rigs is less about what I want and more about what is feasible. With my TB1000 at 25% volume I'm already super freaking loud. Whenever I even try to turn the master up on the Orange my guitarist gets that dog who doesn't want smacked with the newspaper look in his eyes.

I have brought Link Removed of my cabs to practice one time, and ran them all off my B1500. Guitarist was running a 130 watt tube amp with two 412's. Couldnt even hear the drummer. :D

Its too much all at once. Even with ear plugs in.

We have Cold Mourning band practice in my warehouse tonight, instead in someone's garage. I fully intend to make everyone turn way up, so I can test out my new Etymotic earplugs. That's a good excuse.

haha, that 1515/66/1 looks GIGANTIC!!! absolutely dwarfs those little guys next to it. Puts a smile on my face.

My dually should be here anyday...Hoping it gets here before our next show. Told Mark I'd pay more to ship it fast...which, for something that big, may cost as much as the Dually. :)

Once I either 1)get a head to replace my SVT3 that can handle 2ohm loads, or 2)get another head to add to the collection I'm going to start to look at cabs to play along side the dually.

Why? Well ****, why not, I say! I want no doubt who laid waste to their eardrums. I saw Black CObra several years ago in a teeny tiny room - They had 2 full stacks and the bassists 810 rocking at full volume. I could feel my body, and my wifes, who was standing right infront of me, just vibrating from the sound. I absolutely loved the feeling. Honestly one of the most memorable moments in live music for me.

The Ety's are great. I use them for every practice and every show I go to. Very even cut across all frequencies, we practice loud and I forget they're in half the time. No harsh highs from the cymbals, and my ears don't ring afterward. I refused to use ear plugs for a long time because all I had tried were the ****** foam ones and I hated them. I'm a believer now.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. I use the regular size and barely notice them. The large size were too big and the sound was more muffled.

They are small, but oh so deceptive in how loud they can get.

I actually spoke to Mark today about a Dually he just finished, must have been yours. 3015 loaded?

I think you will be shocked at how effing loud that Dually will get on its own. The SVTIII is what 350 watts at 4 Ohms? Oh it will be loud with that amount of power, even more so if/when you upgrade.

Sounds like you might like my '66 driven by a ProLite 3.0. :D

I used to have a huge tub of the foam earplugs and just stopped using them after a while. It was just like sticking my head in an aquarium. I do need to use earplugs though, I've already got a lot of hearing loss from multiple ear infections (including two eardrum perforations) as a kid and decades of playing loud music. I don't want to end up with tinnitus.

When did Black Cobra have a bassist? I've only ever seen them as a 2 piece (one of the few that can pull off the guitar/drum 2 piece too).

haha, don't tell me my memories are wrong!!!!!!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was probably pretty high, I may have only pictured a bassist?

That, and Torche played right after 'em. I probably blending some memories.

What else is a lie?

Yup! Covered in oxblood. No virgins available.

At 4ohms....450W. :bassist:

An "upgrade" isn't entirely necessary...just fun. Still debating the idea of a tube amp. I love SS guitar amps and especially love not having to replace tubes.

I've been a closet basssit my whole life, might have to enlighted me as to what a Prolite is. Also, the '66 referring to your 1515/66/1?

Best thing you can do is take the Dually and your bass down to as many store as possible and try different amps with it.

Crest ProLite 3.0 - 3,000 watt power amp. I drive mine with an ART PC II and a Aguilar TH. '66 is short hand for the 1515/66/1.
