Stoner/Doom Bassists 51: Back To The Future

Looks like im gonna end up getting this Sound City Bass 150 from my buddy in NC. so random that he has it, we played with his band 2 years ago and i saw it in his garage and i just hit him up randomly seeing if he still had it and if he would sell it, took a few days of thinking but looks like its mine.

JohnK retubed the one he had with KT100s, just needed to be rebiased so i might try that if i want something different than the stock KT88s, but im excited. looks like its in nice shape, just missing the badge logo.

nick im getting pictures soon, expect another email haha!

Nice score man, it does look really clean. You can always buy a badge of ebay or something if you want. I see used to see them all over the place, but I haven't looked lately.

Sweet Sound City there! I have a Sound City L100 myself that works wonderfully for bass, I bet that Bass 150 will sound great. It appears to be a DMI-era amp, '74-76 I guess? Does it have the active EQ?

Passive EQ. Almost kind of has the input of a Laney Klipp with a differential input. 2 different bass controls for different frequency ranges, and 1 treble control, probably about 150W maximum output as suggested by the name badge.

The 200s are much closer to the DR201 as the SC120s and the SC200s have pretty much identical preamps and phase inverters but the power amp in the 200 is much more beefy with 620V plates and 430V screens according to the schems on the internet

damn, digging through Circle K to build a custom strings set. Getting excited, when I accidentally hit the the "home" button. Thank god I did! My Peavey is a string through body - Circle K's don't work with string throughs according to their site.

Would not be stoked to pay $$, wait on delivery, jack my old strings, then be **** out of luck.

Man, that thing is like right up my alley. Finish looks like my old ATK.

That's pretty badass. Looks like it has 2 pretty large transformers and one slightly smaller one...wonder what the output of that is...can't be much over 120w, maybe? If that? :hiding:

As a 1965 I'd be surprised if it did half of that! No clue though.

Jack white uses these or some Silvertone amp.

Bee sweet deal!

Ancient that Echo Shift sounds awesome, if I was I looking for a delay now that would probably be it. But the CC is good enough for me.

Practice got canceled tonight, drummer is sick now, I think I may go down to the Kenosha MGR to check out that 220. Will more than likely end up with it...

AND my guitarist added some vox and did a little mixing to Highway...
