Stoner/Doom Bassists 51: Back To The Future

I still kinda want a single coil p bass. I could never afford the real deal. So I keep searching for the next best thing. I was going to go up to Chicago to CME this weekend with some fellow bass nerds, but plans fell apart.

Man.. this thread moves fast. Last I checked my phone, I was on page 14... Time to check-in.

CME is Awesome! They had way too much cool stuff when I dropped by last year around this time. I never made it to the other bass stores in the area. They also have a lot of really cool drum stuff there as well.

I need to stop buying stuff. I just picked up a great looking set of British Racing Green Tama Artstar Customs. Great deal, and great shape for 16 year old drums. They are to keep my 22 year old Tama Granstars company.

I have been playing drums with a bassist and guitarist as of late. I am getting back in the swing of things and making some heavy music. Both the other guys dig YOB and whatnot. The bassist likes a lot of faster stuff too. In fact, he brought another guitarist to jam with tonight. I felt like I was in Dethklok. I haven't played sustained double bass for a long time. The bassist is also into odd time signatures. He seems to not dig 4/4. Its either in 7, or 5, or 2 bars of 3/4, and one of 5/4.... lol. Its kind of fun driving him crazy by making everything sound like 4/4, even when it is not.

I need to get myself set up to take a few bass lessons. I want to get to the point of being able to record drums and bass by myself. One day...

I have been watching a lot of Red Fang vids. Hard to beat.

Who here said that they would be doing a show in, or around Seattle sometime soon? I want to make sure I get that down on my calendar.

When I got my 78' they had different managment, which apparently was not as willing to haggle. That being said, I ended up getting a few hundred off my bass before the transaction was over. They have different owners now, who are apparently more willing to work with you on prices, but I haven't gotten anything pricey since my P-bass.

They're aware their prices are high, but at the same time they are willing to work with you within reason.

The reason I didn't hold out and look for a similar bass on ebay/tb/cl is that I wanted the exact bass I now own. In comparision to all the other P-basses there at the time, mine just sounded and played better.

I always thought viewing pot as medicinal would hurt those rec users. Hope it doesn't bite us back.

I'd almost rather get caught for pot as it is then get pulled over for carrying a prescribed drug without a Rx

Misdemeanor vs Felony, I think....

But, to tell you guys, it is really easy to get a medical card if you really need one. I walk into the Doctor office, tell him what my Osteo Specialst told me (don't even need paperwork), Degeneration in L5, Slight curvature through C (mild scoliosis) Pain at atlantoaxial, Chronic pain through sciatica. 20 minutes later, he signs my paperwork, I mail it to the state and in about three - four weeks, voila!

Now for new card holders, You can use your application paperwork for like 6 weeks in dispensaries while you are waiting for your red card. If you are renewing, you just have to plan ahead. My new card came the same day my old one expired. I was sweating bullets on that one. :D

If you happen to get ahold of plants *wink*, it's legal for Colorado residents age 21+ to grow up to 6. Card or not. You just have to hold a card to enter the shops. Also, there are still head shops in town that just sell accessories so even casual guys are covered. I always talked about moving to Amsterdam when I grew up, I think this is better for me. And, I didn't even have to learn another language. Alright, paperwork is calling my name. See yall in awhile.

Being a huge Edward Abbey fan, and studied Geology in College till Chemistry kicked my butt all up and down and switched to Geography in Junior year, I have wanted to move to one of the Western states. Also most of my migraine issues come from huge barometric pressure changes so think a drier climate may help with that. And the legalization in Colorado, man if I didn"t recently buy a house in VA I would be job hunting in Colorado big time!!!

Dude! Sick drum set!

A few pages back I posted some 15" Paiste Rude hi hats that I scored off a kid on Craigslist.

I worked at one for a year and took 3 basses and a few peds when I worked there.

I was so spoiled when I lived in PA there was one like a 5 minute drive form the house, when I got bored, run up to MGR play some basses, check out the pedal section, then head over to get a coffee at Barnes and Nobles and grab a bunch of motorcycle and bass mags off the shelf and watch the lovely ladies strolling around. Good times!!!
