Did you just get two of the same size or did you get two different sizes? I'm a few pages late, but congrats on the birthing, too!
****ing sleep last night was awesome. Period. Riffage nirvana. One piece of merch was a pillowcase( get it sleep, pillowcase.) Couldn't bring myself to pay $30 for a pillowcase, but still cool. Bought a shirt and a sleep volume 2 vinyl. I'm still riding high. Most pot smoke I think I ever experienced at a show. Probably had something to do with the fact that it's now legal. Just a guess. My only complaint is that pike wore a shirt the entire show, but that's only a minor complaint
Yeah I have been haunting their youtube vids too, pretty unique band. Great band!!! I kind of dig that the sax/bass player uses a SX bass.
I got two of the same size...just in case. And thanks! Really hoping we can take him home on Monday.
Blasphemy!!!! Both the acid bath albums are awesome and the best crowbar is odd fellows rest.
For soilent green I'd start with pussysoul then move on to sewn mouth secrets. They are the easiest to get into because the later soilent green stuff is not for everyone. Slightly less palatable to the un-initiated.

Pussysoul is really the only one of their albums that features the truely deep almost death metal like vocals, but it's very fitting and adds to the crushing delivery of the tracks.

The groovy part at the end is more prevalent on sewn mouth secrets then any of their other albums and that's really what drew me to them. I find that album best consumed in its entirety to really get what soilent green is about.

All time favorite band. They honestly shaped my life at the age of 12 through 16. That combined with hallucinogens formed the man I became. The slower portion in the beginning with the harmonics is just f-ing awesome.

Ben the singer of soilent green and Sammy the guitarist from acid bath and crowbar odd fellows rest. I couldn't get into any of the album's after funeral dirge for the rotting sun, but FDFTRS is awesome and is exactly as the album name proclaims. A funeral dirge.

Great FM practice tonight. Found a marvelous sounding straight in tone while using my Peavey Standard tonight, since the Vulcan is getting fixed. I just have the channels jumped to drive more low end. Perfect amount of sustain and fuzziness with no over whelming feedback, no feedback at all really. Just had to dial the front pup on my Ric back a smidge with everything else wide open. And when running just the bridge pup, piano like high end ring. Just not nearly enough bass. Me like deep bass.
While I'm sure they sound great I'm just not a fan of the asthetics. Plus it seems that the finish can be easily damaged. Pretty good price though.
I dig the looks of them, but yeah they seem like they'd get pretty banged up if you were carrying it around to gigs. I guess that's what the case is for. Local stoner band Droids Attack's bass player uses a Verellen head and two gigantic emperor cabs. Sounds pretty killer.
Question for you guys familiar with tubes. So I run a Peavey vb-2 and this is the first tube head I have owned. I've seen it suggested multiple times to run tubes with a master volume maxed out/almost maxed and regulate the volume with the gain. Well I don't quite do that but in order to keep up I run it anywhere between roughly 2 o'clock and 3 o'clock and gain run to my liking for tone. I get a pretty fuzzed out tone and my gain knob only slightly affects the amount of fuzz. Now while I like the fuzz I get, I can't help but wonder if I should be getting more clean headroom. The tone goes from a flavor of od to fuzz at roughly 12-1 o'clock of the master volume knob. All this happens without Amy effects engaged. I wonder if that is a characteristic of this head. I play my bass and effects chain through the low gain input and clean channel with both my passive T-40 and 18v active Spector. (I'm fairly new to effects, but I suspect that by time the signal goes through my effects, specifically the overdrive>fuzz, and gets to the front of the amp. There's not that much of a difference in the amount of gain between passive & active. I haven't done any research on that, so it'd just my assumption) Also, the tubes are Mullard reissues with about 10hrs on them. (reason for the Mullard reissue, is this was the only matching sextet the tech had on hand when he replaced them and I didn't have time to wait to order a different brand.) The capacitors were also replaced when it was serviced and everything else was working properly. As always, I really appreciate the input.

What's happening is that around 12-1 o'clock you are overdriving the pre-amp tubes.
I think you need to understand what your dials are doing better.Here's a simple diagram
Bass--->*1->Pre amp>--->*2->power amp>---->speaker cabinet>--->doomfuzzness
*1: gain dial sits here *2: master volume sits here
So your gain control adjusts how sensitive the input of your pre-amp is.More gain,the more you are overdriving your pre-amp tubes.The master volume sits after the pre-amp,and acts to meter the volume coming out of the pre-amp.
This is so you can drive your pre amp into the ground without blowing your ears off.The master volume simply affects how much signal goes through to your power amp.
So setting the master volume at max effectively gets rid of it entirely.
Find the gain setting that works for you,then adjust the master to suit the situation.The only way to overdrive those power amp tubes is play loud and bassy!
Also,your active spector has a higher output than your peavey T-40,which is why there might be an active input,which is just the same,but with the gain already toned down a bit.
I love my t-40.Play it on the neck pick-up in humbucker mode,roast your gain,crank the bass,cut the treble and dial up the master.You'll be in heaven-or hell-which ever one you're after.

Hey, thanks for the response. This is exactly my understanding of it. I just didn't think my gain knob would need to be around 9 o'clock or less. I'll have to mess with it more. (although I've done this a great deal already.) Yeah the t-40 rocks.
Al played this the entire set on Friday. Crazy thing is, I didn't see him touch the guitar once. Only the bass. I can't imagine how expensive this thing would be. $8000, $10000? And it has to weigh a ton.
