Stoner/DOOM Bassists thread part 37: Ancient Alien Fuzz

So any of ya'll eat healthy and stuff?

I was looking at buying one of those bad ass blenders and doing the smoothie thing, but they are $400.
As I sit here snacking on a bag of Reese's minis....

I'm Big on Natural Foods.. Long time Vegan... Chiro & general Health promoter... We juice 1-2 x's a day. I have a Blendtec, and a champion (centrifugal style) Juicer. The high powered blenders are really versatile, and really convenient. You can literally throw stuff in (peel citrus) and hit go... It's ready in a minute, and cleanup is a snap! They can also be used for thickened Soup, Sauces, Milling flour, Chopping, pureeing, and a TON of stuff... However they tend to make thicker "juice" and better smoothies due to the amount of air that's added when you vortex the plant matter. The upside here is that all of the plant's fiber is maintained but the cellular structure is somewhat damaged due to the nature of the blending. With centrifugal juicers, I think you get a nicer "juice" be that fruit of vegetable. The down side of these is that prep & cleanup is time consuming and the fiber is separated out, however the juice is thinner, and the cellular structure is more intact. Really, the convenience, and cleanup / prep are the biggest factors. As always juice should be consumed as fresh as possible.

UPS man just arrived with my 70's PWB half hour ago. Got to play with it a bit. This wah is wicked! Nice and intense and in your face. Sweep and boost on this are INSANE! Love it already! :hyper:

Throw a fuzz infront and it's Metallica wah wankery city :bassist:

I even like the boost just on it's own and the taper for the volume mode is just right. Nice and gradual unlike the newer power wah volumes which seem to have more of a exponential curve.

Stolen from miss-posts in the last thread:

Seriously! I think that's more of a Northeast thing.

Probably slightly outdated. If you're not on here and want to be, PM me info.

We just suck up here in the NE. :) Thanks for the links Lazarus. I'll check them out, I'm always up for new music. Lowest - I saw your band at Ralph's. I'm good friends with the Ichabod dudes. First time hearing you guys and I dug it. I play in Dead Languages.

I'm late to the party here. Lo-Pan was great opening for HoF. Get there early to check them out whoever posted what seems like a zillion posts ago. It's great that this is such an active thread, but dam, I can't keep up.

Can't wait to see if my Fender P/J comes in today.

In other news.. I put my order in for a new SS/BS Team Awesome Fuzzmachine! I would have maybe picked the one up here on the TB classifieds, but I wanted the gate option and they were having a 15% off sale. So, blam! It should get here before christmas. I have ben wanting to take my fuzz to the next level for a while. I just hope it sounds as good as all the clips I have heard so far.

And now....
.... The wait....

Cool man! And that's awesome that you play in Dead Languages. I've been trying to check you guys out live but it seems every time you play I have something going on (another gig, out of town, whatever).

And I've known John from Ichabod for years. Good band!

Everything is 25% off!

Do It Do It Do it
yes. some good prices for his stuff.

i like those tube preamps. Building is kind of a bitch but they pretty solid esp if you have a good power amp to play with

I can not stress enough how much I love my Meatsmoke Pre. Best gear decision I made this year.

Keep us posted, I have been getting hot and cold on these for a while, but never actually played one.

I will keep you guys in the loop. Brian from SS/BS had a few pedals that he was running a special on. He puts on some cool National Geographic pictures on the front, they are all different. I asked to see if he had any cool pictures of lava flow or something spacy. So that will probably be a bit of a surprise.

Some of the clips I have heard sound a bit like some Mountainking pedals, but a little less broken up. And it is a lot cheaper than some of those bad boys. So SS/BS will be my first news stop in my search for better fuzz.
