Seriously, that's why I keep trying out micro heads. So I can have a backup in the pocket of a gigbag. I used to haul around two vintage tubes amps with me to every gig. I've also blown up my main amp and my backup within a week of each other before.
Finished practice a while ago, started jamming on something that ended up sounding like hand of doom with a nice heavy chorus. Glad to be finally writing some music instead of going off of just what the guitarist has in his riff collection and we can start to make some music as a band. Have a singer coming out Monday, says he's a screamer... as long as he doesn't sound ridiculous it might work. Here's hoping lol.

The Fender MIM Precision Bass Special (deluxe series), made it here in one piece. This model is not to be confused with all the other stuff fender calls special, or deluxe stuff that Fender makes. I have to hand it to GC, for a bass that didn't come with a case, they packed it well for its trip from CA to WA.
It is sort of a mixed bag.
On the plus side: The body is in pretty good shape, not even buckle rash. Came with a BA II bridge and a Hipshot detuner. Neck fit solidly into neck pocket without huge gaps. Seems to be the Jazz neck on the Precision body affair and has passive electronics.
On the not so plus side: What a dirty slut! lol. A bit of a culture shock for me because my gear still looks new because I take care of it. The last owner had some fetish for stickers or something. There is a lot of residue and left over detritus from the stickers on the PG. Then... then they must have been a bit blind or something because they put some adhesive something or other over all the dot inlays. It looks like whatever was stuck to the fret board was about the size of a quarter and has been mostly removed, but leaving behind a sticky residue and a little discoloration.
Then there are the pickups. They seem to be set a bit haphazardly. Compared to my P and J. The pickups are on the weaker signal side. If I get a bit crazy, I might try to figure out the P/J combo that Fender is using in their Custom Shop Precision Closet Classic and replace these 30 watt bulbs.
I have always liked the idea of a P/J, as it is a mix between what I already have and like. But now I just have to figure out if I want to put some effort and money into it to bring it up to snuff
Over all, I can't complain too much for $195. Heck, I could probably clean it up and flip it on CL if I wanted to. But I guess I will see what I can do to make me like this dirty slut a little more.

You need some goo gone for that residue. Some foam for those pups. Probably some new strings and you might be surprised how it comes from there.
True. I need to give it a little love before I make a decision. I have some DR Low Riders that I can throw on there. I will pick up some goo gone and some foam. How much foam are we talking? 1/4 inch or what? Is that something people buy at a music store, or is it more of a go to Home Depot and find some foam sort of thing? Do you think Goo Gone will hurt the fret board?
If your worried about the fret board pick up some fret board conditioner. And your local guitar shop might have some foam laying around. Anything will do. A $1 sponge from the grocery store will do the job.
They often take a little bit of tweaking. New strings also help. Once I have gotten them set in the past, they've been pretty solid from then on out. I generally have a Hipshot detuner on every 4 string that I've owned.
Woke up this morning to a surprise: Our band is on the YooToobs. Recorded on an iphone w/questionable quality, but it's there. Pretty cool!
If you guys have Netflix, I highly recommend checking out Todd & the Book of Pure Evil. It takes a couple episodes to get into, but it starts getting hilarious after that. Great show.
We were learning "she's so heavey" last night at practice, it kicked our azz, and we still have a lot of work on it, but its going to be a a great cover song along with No Quarter

Its real fun because there some songs out there that played correctly are uber heavey, case in point, Dear Pruedance.
Yeah we usually throw in a cover at every show. Tonight it's Sabbath's "Children of the Grave" but we've also covered Kyuss, a bit of Zeppelin, Twisted Sister and Stompbox.
I like playing a cover somewhat early in the set (3rd-4th) when playing for unfamiliar crowds. It helps get the attention of people who don't know your music already, and if you play it well they'll usually pay attention to the rest of your set.

crap!... so i picked up a used stingray locally for a steal with the intent to flip it. I dont have the spare cash at the moment. Well dammit!! I bought it sight unseen and unplayed for the price. I get it home its the best sounding and playing stingray Ive ever had...and Ive had alot. I cant really afford to keep it, but Ill be damned if Im letting it go and I now I have to figure out what else to sell... argh.
