My bass list is bronco, roadstar p bass, Squier all white p (want a jazz body for the neck), squier SS jag, and squier bass VI.

My bronco is my favorite. Though, aside from it only the white p bass is functional. The rest need to be wired up.

Mostly I play the P, it's the one tuned for BEAD. My amp situation is in flux right now, waiting for the Dunwich tube amp. I have two Duallies, an Ampeg 810, my Traynor YBA-1 and my power amp in storage:

When I'm recording demos I just use my practice setup at home:

Got a bunch of pedals, though I purged almost half of them recently. I have a PT2 with a built in power supply that I usually use for dual rigs for recording or live, but these are the ones I use most often at home on the PT Mini with a OneSpot:

Weird to say after posting that, but I've actually scaled back a lot in the last year or two, since I haven't been in a regular band.

Are any of you guys familiar with 'Silent Enigma' era Anathema? I'm wondering if that bass is using Rotosound flats. I really love the bass sound on that record.

I have 3 cheapo basses.
My current favorite is my first bass a Samick Artist series PJ-loaded with Dimarzios and a Badass bridge. Sounds great with a thin Ibanez type neck, sadly it has some neckdive.

My I also have a 1980 Hondo II Pro with a PAF Dimarzio, sounds killer. Plays all wrong for me. Like painful hand crampy. Really sucks cause she is beautiful.

My last instrument is a Peavey Grind. This bass is far and away the most comfortable bass I've ever played. Perfect neck, balance everything. I could blab for hours about is ergonomics. It's sound is rather disappointing. It's dark sounding and so so solo. In a band mix it's it's basically inaudible. Yay. Also Peavey chose an odd size pickup so replacements are hard to find. Ugh.

I'm still waiting for an Ashdown 115 cab for my Terror Bass, should be here next week. Then I'll probably sell my Ashdown 5-15 combo. It sounds nice and it's loud after I swapped the speaker for a Celestion 300W driver, but I just can't justify to keep so many furniture in my smallish apartment.

So gotta be honest, my guitar player blowing poopie out of proportion was partly my fault...

But had one last practice before we head to Indy this weekend, and he turned the bass down. Sounds so much better. Hes not crowding me anymore sonicly. Im carrying the bass now, not just adding to it. He sounds like a beefy guitar not a guitar and bass player wrapped up in one. The drums sound better. Everything sounds better overall.

It just too bad it got handled the way it did.

With his bass down I tried the Mace again, still nope. Just doesnt push the low end I need...not surprising since its a highish gain guitar head. But its okay, the Mace works amazing for GH. I perfectly okay running matching Tuxedo Musician and Bass 300.

Ferkin' nice. That Carvin...my two P basses have that look of burst with black guard. I dig that. The Carvin outclasses them though!

Many times I have been very close to pulling the trigger on an ATK. I'v eloved Ibanez stuff since the 80s...

What's that last one that looks something like an Alembic? That's beautiful!

Thanks, I was super happy with the Carvin from the second I unboxed it. Looks great, plays great, sounds great. I had a Carvin SB4000 before, which is a Jazz type model they used to make (JoeVictim rocks one), and sold it to buy this one. They didn't have P type models at the time I bought that one though. I think I would still buy one of their newer Jazz type models too in the future, if I have the dough. The natural wood one is a Drake Custom. The body style is kind of loosely based off a BC Rich Eagle, the headstock is kind of Alembic-ish. They're both standard shapes he does, I just loved the look of his work. That's the bass I used in the doom metal band I was in and it's great for mostly clean, but super thick and punchy tone. It also works decently well for really grindy tones with my Volt Thrower. I bought that ATK used (it's a first year model, not a MIJ one though) from a guy semi-local when I sold my SBMM Ray34CA. It fits the same kind of tone at half the price and I've wanted an ATK forever.

I'll have another P bass soon. Drake is painting my pine body I made and I've got all the parts ready to assemble. It'll be black/black/maple.

Love the look of that Samick, and I've played several of those Hondo IIs, though it's been years. They are great basses. Those PAF pups are stock, I believe. They were modeled on the old SD Curlee basses. Some of them came with two P pickups IIRC. Peopole still automatically hear "Hondo" (or several other similar brand names from back in the day, but a lot of those are real sleepers. Well made in a lot of cases. That Lotus L700 P copy I have is far from being even in the Top Ten best P basses I've owned, but it has a killer neck, sounds good, is a blast to play and I would feel fine if I had had to pay twice what I paid for it. Only problem is it's is sooooo heeaavvvvyyy. I haven't weighed it, and I've owned heavy basses in the past, but I wouldn't be surprised if this one pushed 15 lbs.

Sorry about the Peavey pups. Have you considered routing the body for bigger pickups like some MMs or something? Maybe if you found what you wanted to slap in there, you could make a little housing for it, like a pickup ring?

Roadstar P--as in an old Ibanez, or is "Roadstar" a brand in itself?

Do yourself a favor, go look up his builds in the luthier's corner, go to his website or look up his FB page. Dude's work is amazing and he's a super nice guy. If I had money to burn, I would have half a dozen instruments from him by now.

Yeah, the pine body is definitely a saga...bordering on tragedy. It looks like it will finally be done soon. Drake emailed me some pics last week when he sealed the body with epoxy and was getting ready to start spraying color coats. Hopefully it will be done pretty soon, then it's just a matter of finding the time to assemble it. That at least I can get done in small chunks.

Any routing on the Peavey would require a pickguard. Those stock pickups hang way off the sides of the strings. It would be kinda fun to get a loaded T40 pick guard and route as required. Pretty much boner-sound, but I'd be losing serious material out of a rather thin neck-through bass.

The only pickups I've found that might be close to drop in replacements are Lace bassbars. The techy side of those dudes is weird and I'm not ready to gamble on their purchase.

Just a partcaster. I bought an unfinished el cheapo Paulownia jazz bass body off of Guitarfetish,then sent it to JMac(Whiskerface Designs) to have the pups routed for the Gibson Thunderbird pickups I got off of the classifieds. I bought the Jaguar neck of JMac. Black ivory artist oil stained and gun oiled the body then bolted and wired it up. Pretty happy with the build, there is a gap between the control plate and neck pup and I angled the bridge some but close enough for gub-mint work.
You might beat me in arm-wrestling but I bet my socks are cooler!
