Man, I remember the days when this thread would be at the top of the Active list 24/7. What happened?!

Some outsiders came in and started reporting people for all kinds of things.

Sad really, I thought Talk Bass was better than that, despite the weird auto correct of naughty no-no poopie words.

I guess though some people will always feel the need to inflate their ego playing witch hunters and spoiling other peoples fun by pleading self proclaimed authority, polishing their shiny badges of hypocrisy.

Not only did I pretty much abandon This Thread after that happened, My overall usage of the entire site dropped off a cliff

Had a mini gear buying spree - Boneshaker, Octoplus, and a Russian Pickle all on their way. But all for $200 total! Couldn't resist.

Well . That and the mods seemed to be regularly banning good members who had a looong history of contribution and knowledge. Suddenly both the fun and the learning was in short supply.. pity really.
Now there's plenty of threads about stupid carp and many of the real smart guys with industry knowledge are nowhere to be found.

I got a month long ban when that happened last year.

Someday...someday I will have a Dually.

Do you run any effects through your SBM? I got rid of pretty much all my pedals when I got mine, and I'm slowly starting to build my arsenal back up.

I really can't recommend the dually enough. I had mine made with the Faital drivers, and my cab GAS is dead. Except for maybe a second dually.

I've never gotten too deep into the effects thing, just lots of dirt. Usually with the SBM I only use a Rat Tail, for when I want it super grindy-clanky. I find the natural tone from Gibson into amp very pleasing, so frequently bring zero effects to gigs. If I'm using one of my Sunn heads I use more pedals.

show on sunday at the elks club in tujunga, not sure what to play, thom will be playing his thunderbird and i never got time to get the single coil mod done to the l2k, the sb-2 is wearing flats, and the lb100 is kinda mid rangey and dark too

Super collider way more what I'm looking for. I didn't have time to dial it in before practice but that's a hell of a fuzz tone. Guitarist not sure about the pickle tho. That one takes some fiddling.

And it is ironic, this was the most active thread on the site, and had the most traffic, and a ton of supporting members. All of which contributed to their advertising revenues from the banners. In their "crack down" they lost a ton of site traffic, and supporting members.

The only fuzz I'm really curious about trying at this point is the dunwich wizard & the eau clair thunder, but both are wayyyy bigger than my Soooopahkollider mini. I know Dunwich is going to try a smaller version of the whiz at some point though.

I have very little GAS see days as well, though I can't pass up deals to save my life. Don't need the pedals I just bought, but for the price I had to try them! And I already have an Octoplus, but I think I may like it better than my MXR BOD, so we'll see. Will likely have octavers on guitar and bass boards.

Now I'm in a discussion in another thread about why i'm not a big proponent of markbass for stoner doom and how i apparently don't even know that post punk and doom metal don't typically use the same bass gear and settings

I was, and still am, bummed that all those guys left. This was a fun, pretty free-wheeling thread. But, we incurred the the attention of the mods, and they felt we were a little too free-wheeling and asked us to tone it down a bit.

But, it is what it is.
