I never got into ATW too much. I think I'm too much of a metal head for it.

Chiming in asking for a suggestion.

I've been owning an Ashdown MAG head for years. It has left me just now that,after 2 years of bedroom playing I may manage to get live again.

I took the chance to start upgrading my gear, since my only giggable piece is my mag115 cab, and at 27kgs, it too will go away.
I play in two bands, a 4 piece alternative rock (with 2 effected guitars, I chose to lay a hard rock bass sound basement with few fuzzy parts and powerchords) and an instrumental post-rock stoner-affected trio where I always play distorted in D.
I play P basses with pick in both.
As both rehersal places where I play feature Mag and Abm heads I chose the Abm 500 as my future companion since it will easily suit both my bands.
Problem is, I don't like its light blue face. The Mag was fine as it was more greyish colored, but I found a used Amb RC (rack model) which has a dark chrome front panel that I love at a steal price.
I can't seem to find a decent amp case in my area apart the usual plastic ones or flight cases which I don't really need. All I woukd like is the Abm RC to fit in a normal wooden amp enclosure.
I found a used Hartke lh5500, the enclosed version, for an even more steal price.
My mad idea is buying the naked Abm and the cased Hartke, and put the Ashdown in the Hartke case, taking off the badge.
Is this possible? Will the Abm fit the case? I would think yes since RC units are standard but I never coped with RC heads.

Also, what would you say at a Abm 500 + two Tc K212 cabs rig? I'd like consistency and no huge weights. I still need to test the 12" Tc tho.

seems like a lot of work with questionable results. if you like the sound of the Ashdown then that's all that should matter.

What do you guys think of Rogue basses? Decent? I've always wanted to try a fretless, just because, and there's a cheap Rogue fretless on my local CL. Says it may need a new nut or bridge adjustment, as the E string sounds "dead". What do you think?

If it's super cheap, might be worth it. If it's the same Rogue I'm thinking if, it was a store brand line and some were made of compressed cardboard.
There was one at a store that had a chunk knocked off a corner, and you could see the flaking and layers.

battery on the camera died, back to talkbass for a little while, then on to a walk in the canyon, not buying anything until i get the single coil mod on the L2000, really need to get a newer camera, hopefully before the spring bloom action is in full swing

I'm with @Maureen M on this one. Could be worth it if it's super cheap, otherwise I think rondo makes a fretless neck you could put on something if you have a bolt on.

I feel ya, I like how they kinda go all over the spectrum from light to heavy. But I can definitely see how someone can prefer the heavy only.

@SonnyBassPlayer I have the same ABM 500 and love it. I haven't even thought about getting another gigging amp since I got it 4 years ago. I actually took mine out of the wooden case and bolted it to a rack shelf, then mounted it in a Mesa 2x12 combo cab. I'm sure you could easily build a case for it and just bolt the RC head to the wood, but if the Hartke is that much of a steal why not. Then you have a backup amp...But $30 for some plywood, screws, and a rattle can would be what I try first, though I understand some wouldn't like it.

You can find really nice, tolex-covered, steel cornered rack cases if you look.

I have no experience with them, but that's the way I would go. I actually bought a cheap $30 2-space rack for my old Hartke 3500, but it's carpeted with plastic corners and not very well-made.

Picked up a Guild 'Squier'. MIJ version of their Jetstar/JS. I can't seem to pass up a good cheapo shortscale. This thing has pretty good low end woof.

Little pedalboard shot. Lovin the volt thrower. The mid knob is great for letting me get a little fatter clean tone while still having a great grindy bass distortion.

If you are looking for an enourmous crushing fuzz tone, it has it in spades. We have some riffs that i feel like it kind of makes. Just being able to take a mix and crush it underneath you can be handy.

I had an old M-85, same pickups as a JS, that was a while ago and don't remember much about it, the bridge was shattered during shipping and I didn't keep it long. These Madeira pickups are different looking, they look like the ones in my Conrad acrylic bass and Hagstrom. They're pretty thick sounding, almost in the mud zone. I think the Guild JS pickups might have a little more clarity....? Still a pretty good axe for the money.
