Can anyone educated/experienced enough in using multiple cabs and impedance take a look at this for me?
I have an SVT-CL that I normally run to a 4 ohm 8x10 fridge. I just acquired a Cerwin Vega B36 1x18 rated at 8 ohms. I should be able to daisy chain (run parallel?) the 1x18 from the 8x10 if I switch my SVT output to 2 ohms, is that correct? The other way would be to run dual outputs from the SVT to each cab, but if the 1x18 is rated at 8 ohms I can't do that, right?
I've read through [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] article on impedance which leads me to this conclusion but would like confirmation before I potentially blow things up lol. Running the formula they have at the bottom would be (8×4) / (8+4) = 32/12 = 2.66 Ohms for the combined load of both cabs in parallel.
I've never tried running multiple cabs off one amp before, especially with different ohm ratings, so this is all new to me. Would I be better off with a 1x18 rated at 4 ohms? Not sure how all this effects the overall sound of the amp either as I do know that when impedance isn't matched it can effect everything tonally and volume-wise. Also heard some stuff about SVT's not liking to be ran at 2 ohms.

To add my bit with the Ibanez love, my first bass was a TMB 100. Still have it and play it quite often as it's my "non-doom" E-standard bass. I got it used for no more than $150 but I can't remember how much it cost exactly. Their build quality is unbeatable for the price. Although I don't have any experience with basses above the $300 range, minus some noodling at Guitar Center, I don't think I could ever be convinced to purchase a Fender (or most other big name brands for that matter)p or j, new or used, when I could get an Ibanez at 1/2 or sometimes even 1/4 of the price and mod it however I want and not even feel bad, because I spent so little.
Like the bass that @br1qbat showed for example: Who else is giving you unique neck inlays like that below $500? Jackson has some cheapies with triangle inlays but outside of them I can't think of anyone.

It's a Wilson freaker wah, V2. I used to play a parachute and this is pretty close and has a load of flexibility. I really like it. I seem to be sourcing a lot of my pedals from the US over the last year or two.

mine is a custom Wilson 12 position wah, but i really want to try a Freaker.
Great point about Ibanez. I admit I dig a lot of fender's colorway which would draw me that way, but not for MIA prices. I think the basses i have on my radar to try at some point are:
-tribute kiloton
-ss stingray passive
-wattplower mkii
-a PJ of some sort, really dig that Jackson Ric/PJ Mashup
-flea jazz
-tbird of some variety
-that headless multiscale ss Ibanez
-the fretless semi hollow Ibanez can't remember the name
There's tons of others too, but those are the headliners for me. Not much Fenders, though I would love to have some more. There's not much tonal variety to really justify it IMO.
I'm no amp wizard but here's my take. For an SS amp that can handle 2, the parallel out to the 4 and 8 ohm sounds correct since it would be above the 2ohm min. With a tube amp however, I know matching impedance is critical to the health of the amp to my knowledge at least. Since it wouldn't be a perfect match to the amp unless it has a 2.67ohm speaker out, I would be very hesitant to turn it on. Its not a matter of keeping volume low to be okay to my understanding, but the loading of the output transformers on a tube amp.
That said I don't have a ton of experience using more than one cab at a tube amps designated load. Others here may. I've just heard bad stories of damaging tube amps by not running them under proper load.

Thanks for the input! I've always gone by the match or bust rule in the past with tube amps for exactly the reasons you've stated haha. Surprised just how hard it is to find a definitive rule of this stuff online.
Barefaced cabinets sells a 2x10 that goes between 4 ohms and 12 ohms for use with an 8 ohm cab. If you can find a way to get your 8x10 to send 12 ohms there could be some potential there? I'm only a student in this stuff though so I could very well be wrong
Took a minute to find it, SRH500F. That Garry Willis one looks pretty slick too. Not crazy but ramps, but it looks sweet.
@Evil_Druid that's really cool, never even though of that wiring as a possibility. Though I did want to wire a 212 with two 8ohms to be able to run 4ohm together or 2 in 8hm stereo.
I've only tried stereo bass once, and it required a whole separate rig
