Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've received the Deluxe Electric Mistress. Haven't had time to jam it yet. This thing is huge, damn do I love EHX stuff. When I moved a few months back I found a EHX Small Stone [90s 'Black Russian'] that I thought lost. It is tempermental, so I'm keeping my Maxon Phasetone around, but damn it's soo 'chewy'.
Speaking of that, I have become aware of these old pedals. I can't find a sample of the phaser one, but on the whole they sound kinda interesting. There's one of these near me for cheaper than the gougers on Reverb.

I'm an absolute sucker for anything DBA or Idiotbox. Even if I don't have my board littered with their stuff, it's just so damn good. I saw that one and knew I had to have it. Then that sweet sherwood green Rascal bass had to be released by Squier....
I think I need to move a bunch of stuff and pick those up. Honestly, I thought the whataphaser would be the last one I'd want for on a board, but this one I think would nail a lot of what I'd want and more. More than anything it looks so damn fun but also fun to eff with at shows.
Also, not sure if anyone ever checks out MER, but they're releasing a superunknown redux. Sounds dooe so far, and the three other ones I have indicate it'll be damn good. Stoked for this release.

I need to cut down on the cash outlay. Gotta bass getting a refret and gonna get my van repainted soon. Got the wife her anniv. loot today too.
@br1qbat agreed on the EHX pedals, something about the esthetics and sounds they get is just so damn cool. Especially the 90s-2000s.
Not gonna lie. I do exactly this until I have to use two. IDGAF if it’s “right”. Crowds don’t seem to care. I’m playing sludge/doom, not fusion!
Do you dig in hard with your plucking hand and/or feel like you have particularly 'soft' skin? Not trying to sound like a dick at all, but I don't don't think about this much & maybe I'm just lucky. I take terrible care of my hands in terms of keeping the skin in good shape. So my hands always look like stones covered in hot garbage, but maybe that's why I've never dealt with blisters?
I say it's because I play so infrequently these days. When I played regularly in high school and college, I just had calluses. Now that I have a kid and all that, my calluses disappeared. I'm trying to play often enough to build them back up again, but I think that requires at least a round or two of blisters.
Morning, all. I downloaded the first Van Halen album to my phone to listen to while walking The Battle Dachshund(tm), and I quite like what Michael Anthony did bass-wise. He had some nice little bits that you can't really hear without using phones.
Have you opened up your Russian Small Stone? You might be surprised how easy they are to work on.
My main fuzz is a v8 (corner-cuttin'est of the cut corner Russian muffs) and after babying it for so long, I finally had to do a little re-engineering inside to make it more stageworthy. The original volume and sustain pots failed; one of the jacks was failing, and when I went in, I found some factory wires just about to break. I spent a little time and money-pots, standoff mounts/board relocation, jacks-but it's solid, now. It was easy work since all the components are so big.
I got nothing.
Down in Mexico again, Hermosillo this time. Man I miss playing my bass. Haven't had a chance to crank it up recently.

"The Clarity" is great too. I love the extra jam at the end. Not sure if Al was using an envelope filter or phaser, but his tone has some juicy modulation going on.
