I bought the KMA Mandrake, and then struggled to figure out if I liked it. All the videos sounded great, but that doesn't always translate into one's personal sound at home. So, the only thing to do was wait until everyone went to bed, catch a buzz, and see what happens. This was the result. It's far more stoner than doom, but what the hey...

Not sure what your hoped-for tone goals were, but I think it sounds great in that mix. Probably not a tone I'd go for, but like you said, more stoner than doom, and I lean more doom. Either way, solid song and solid tone. I'd say it's worth keeping, unless you can get other similar tones with different pedals.

This is right up my alley, I'm much more stoner than doom, and the tone in this is right on point. Dig the swirley guitars as well. Good, good stuff. Reminds me a bit of Tuber.

I have most of, if not all, their music. Great band.
Also check out Naxatras, I like them a lot. Not terribly doom-y or stoner, just good.

So, I'm trying out for a band on Sunday. The songlist is the antipathy of doom/stoner, lol. Lots of poppy tunes. But, all I'm doing right now is spinning my wheels in the basement, so, this may give me more focus on progressing as a player. (If I make the cut, obviously.)

There are a couple of pretty cool tunes, though. A Captain Beefheart tune called "Who Do You Think You're Fooling", and one by Richard and The Young Lions, called "Open Up Your Door", which has some pretty heavy fuzz guitar. If I make it, I'm going to wage a surreptitious campaign to get more fuzzed-out hippy music in the rotation.

I'm going to try. I let the singer know several times that I play less electric bass than I play electric tuba. I promised them "...five great notes per song."

Day one of the Milwaukee Metal Fest. Just caught Rotting Christ, Pentagram and Bongzilla is at 7.

The big win for me is Wolves in the Throne Room coming up. Might miss the first few Bongzilla songs.

Snagged a Crate CR-285B head for cheap, as it was on the bucket list. As it just so happens the local music mart has the matching 1x18/2x10 cab. For $99. It's 108 lbs. I don't gig or have a real band. I kinda have no room. What to do.

Make room? I have no idea what any of that is, but hey - if it sounds good, it IS good! I say make some room and enjoy.

I'm looking forward to just playing soon. Haven't touched an instrument in probably 6 weeks... It sucks! Hopefully that changes soon. I'm also way too excited for a pedal of mine to be repaired - details hopefully coming in the near future.

And on a completely unrelated note - anybody have experience with the Crowther Prunes & Custard? Seems like a fun pedal, but not sure how useful it would be.

And now, back to random history books, as reading is a far quieter hobby (and therefore more acceptable to the wife/child at night time) than bass.

Mine seems to need a lot of level for that to trigger or I need to mess with it more on a bass by bass basis. I would like a real one to A-B it, but they're $$$.

Exactly why I ask. Reverb has an affordable clone - $90. RCO makes good stuff, I'm just not sure about the circuit in general. I have other pedals of his, all excellent, but know almost nothing of the P&C.

I have an OG. Sadly, it's another one of those pedals that I lusted over for years that, once I got it, I found while all kinds of fun, it is very hard to use in a band context, unless soloing it. That plus side jacks keeps it off the board and on the shelf. Now, it's an awesome pedals and gets as synthy as anything. I have no intentions of ever parting with it. I actually want to get it back down and play with it, since y'all have brought it back to mind.

I have some basses I've not run through it yet. I may make some sound clips.
