Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Starting to build up my rig. Got the Rickenbacker just the other day. Love my Green Russian reissue fuzz too, keeps the bass.
Not a lot to report, just been chillin' in the grotto, watching monster movies, shrub, and playing along with the iPad. I am a simple creature. Passed on a chance to go see Oasis inToronto, which wouyld have been cool, but, neither one of my buddies have a passport. The other options are Chicago at twice the price for much worse seats, or New York, for decent seats, but, that'll end up being a $1500-2000 show with plane/hotel/food added in. I'd like to see them, but, that kind of outlay is only going to happen for a custom bass... Although, there are non-custom ones that pique my interest for about the same.
Now, for a show that is much more in-line with this sub-forum, I did get tix for myself and my cousin to go see The Sword at a small club here in Cleveland. And I'm much more into The Sword than Oasis.

Is that when they're playing Warp Riders in its entirety? That's coming here as well in about a month. Wasn't sure if I was going to go or not. I've got a buddy who is going, but I saw them years ago when they were still actively heavy and opened for Clutch. Not sure about how they sound now. Anybody here know if The Sword still brings the heavy on their old material? I appreciate the newer stuff, and it grew on me, but the heavier stuff is what I always come back to.
I've been binging PBS documentaries from the local library lately. I should probably pony up the $5 monthly for the PBS "subscription" service that lets you watch all sorts of their shows. It's the cheapest subscription I'm aware besides the free/ad-supported models, and I'm actually more interested in most of those documentaries than a vast majority of what the other services offer.
Pumped for the Sword tour planning on seeing them at the Rave in Milwaukee. Also excited to Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol, awesome riffs and the vids I've seen look like they put on a great live show. I have a feeling there's about a 99.9% chance the Rickshaw Billie's Burger Patrol bassist is on this thread, awesome tone!
I'm considering going to see The Sword in Milwaukee as well, but it's on a Friday so I'd probably have to leave straight from work nearabouts. Plus it's the weekend after Cannibal Corpse/Municipal Waste are in Green Bay.
I've probably listened to more Sword in the past year than either CC or MW, but Green Bay is close enough I don't have to worry about getting there or getting home (last time I went to the Rave I got a hotel room for the night, getting old enough that a 2hr drive at 11pm isn't great). Plus I want to support more metal bands coming up here instead of just Milwaukee or maybe Madison, if they hit WI at all.
But after starting this post I clicked the link from @jollygiantchris since I had never heard RBBP before and uh....I like it.
Maybe I'll need to suck it up and do both.

Keep me posted here if any of ya'll end up going to MKE. My guitar player had shared stages with those dudes back in the day and we may end up going. If so, I'd be down to have a beer with any of the folks here.
Appleton to Green Bay is a pretty easy drive as long as its not winter. I agree though the Milwaukee - Appleton drive is not great at night and deceptively long. Appleton is a pretty great town always like stopping at Ginger Rootz and/or Stucc's pizza when I'm there.
I recently subscribed to PBS, not a big cost and worth it to support local tv! Do it.
Yes. I love the older stuff, and even the newer stuff is good enough for me. I have a sneaking suspicion this show will be a lot of older material.
Listening to a great band I just found: Deaf Revival out of Memphis. Guitar/drum duo, but, totally rifftastic.
I think I will once I burn through some of my DVD/Blu Ray collection that I've amassed lately. Got to watch some stuff I already paid for and have in hand!
Just catching up on the thread since the notifications spontaneously dried up again. I am stoked to see two bucket list bands off the list next month: Fu Manchu, then the Melvins. Even cooler, I'll be seeing the Melvins in Toledo, on a stage I've actually played twice. What a thought that is
I can tell you as a veteran of several Melvins shows: when then came through Texas earlier this year it was the best I have ever seen them perform live. They are locked in. Also, random note: picked up a Snarling Dogs Very-Tone Dog pedal (an outboard Varitone with a clean boost). Six of the 10 frequency settings make for a surprisingly good notch filter outboard preamp when used in conjunction with the boost and the clean boost works very well when the Varitone is set to bypass. Not bad for what was intended to be a guitar-oriented pedal.
