Man, it's the same with me and 2000s (or any Sunn 1000s series amp for that matter). It's not a matter of necessity, but like, one is cool and all, but two is cooler, and four is two times as cool as two and so on and so forth.

The only major difference I know if is that some have the graphic EQ, some don't.

See, that's the thing. I do use the graphic whenever I'm playing metal.

Current Catapult settings (which are basically the same as the 5th Child settings and what I used on the Fathomless album):
Channel 2 input (channel 1 is for guitar)
Volume 2 - 5 (except for the beginning half of "Servitude," where I push it up to 6)
Mids - 10 (always)
Bass - 4, occasionally 5
Treble - 2
Master - Usually about 8.5 to 9.5... was around 9.5 at the desert show... like I said, tiny adjustments between 7.5 and 9.5 do a lot

Then on the graphic, basically a frowny face (the goal is to do about the same thing that turning the mids all the way up on an actually boostable EQ would do):
40hz - flat
100hz - boosted halfway or just over halfway
250hz - all the way up
625hz - all the way up
1560hz - halfway up or a little less
3900hz - flat or just slightly below flat (with new strings)


For the folk/rock band I generally just turn the graphic EQ off, then turn down the treble knob to 1. Usually the master is a bit lower, too, lol.

His terror bass has a modified FMV I'm sure he'll be fine.
If not then you and sartori can say "I told you so.":laugh:

For what it's worth though the dually isn't supposed to be flat, just to maximize the performance of its eminence driver.:thumbsup:
Of course, compared to most vintage drivers it approaches flat.

Yeah. Different tone goals, probably. I'm very much after a midrange spike when I play metal, right where the scoop on my guitarists' Orange amps is, lol.

When I play with the Rickety Van Band, the graphic EQ is off because the mix is less dense and so a less overdriven, more open tone works has room to be heard.

I generally eat a lot of it but ate a little Cesar's pizza for one day and jack n the box the next.

Never once been to a football (or any sports game) during my tenure. So now that I'm finished I snuck onto the playing field of the stadium of course.
