Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Ok so I met a person a while back and have since really taken an interest in them. I also found out they are with and live with someone. She and the guy both make it seem like they aren't a real couple . They both said she's only moved in to get closer to work. In fact she has her own bedroom.

So I told myself even though they seem iffy and whatever it's not my place to intrude. so I only hang out with them when prompted by mutual friends. As of late they always argue and she just hangs with me if we are somewhere. Then she asked for my number in front of the guy and said shes always asking about me so it's easier just to ask me about me. And has since hit me up three times in two days asking what's up.

I'm terrible about knowing how to deal with situations like this. If she wasn't really interesting and didn't look really really good I'd not even wonder what's up. I have people I can call if I need a quick thing, so I wouldn't want to do something over it unless it somewhat had a reason (more than once, or more than just a that even perhaps depending). Also because she and the guy are part of a circle of friends.

Dude just do what's natural. Bro code only applies to bros. Some random dude is just collateral damage.

Exactly. She contacts you, so see where it goes. If she is free/interested then that is all that matters.

Struggling to keep up sonically with the new band. One of the guitarists is sporting a beefy Mesa Dual Rectifier and Mesa 412 which, alone, is insanely loud. Then I've got the other guitarist playing through a Marshall JCM 800 and matching Marshall 412. I decided to bring in my spare 410 box to stack with my other 410 just to get the most out of my 350 watt SWR and to push more air but I'm still struggling to get any sort of presence, even with the mids up. Dirt pedals help a bit but doesn't change the fact that I have to practically have my amp's gain and volume knobs at max to get some sort of response lol.

I think now is a good a time as any to upgrade my poopie. And yes, that's partially an excuse to buy new poopie.

I recommend 2 4x12s.
You want to be as loud as a guitarist?
Double his speakers.
On second thought. 4 4x12s would be perfect.

Get the most powerful ss or hybrid amp that your cabs can handle. I had the same problem with a 350W amp. 800W-1000W would be a significant improvement. The LH1000 from hartke is a good, inexpensive source of power.

I'm looking at the Orange Terror Bass heads. I've heard a few in action and I certainly don't hate what I'm hearing. 500 watts, three preamp tubes and a Class D power section all in the size of a lunchbox is definitely hard to say no to. Hell, if I find a good deal, I could even go for the 1k watt model.

shag it, four 810s and two 215s because who needs flesh on their bones, right?

I wouldn't even consider the 500 watt version. 500 watts will not be a huge improvement over what you have now.

My full loud rig is one 810 and 4 15s. I should get another 810.

Got more trail cut and cleared. So much fire wood. I also pulled up all the little green shoots on the trail itself so it's just a dirt path.

Found a lot more bones, and stones with beaches names and BC dates tagged on them.

Gonna get the place cleared, then mom suggests I make a shrine/chill pad in the woods out of the weird stuff I find there.

Are you sure they're not just friends who are housemates?

I've lived with friends before who were of the opposite sex. I know a few friends who live with mixed gender roommates.

Is this something that's really uncommon in other parts of the country?

If thinks look like they're going to get... intimate... if it bothers you, just ask her straight up if she's seeing anyone.

Dude just do what's natural. Bro code only applies to bros. Some random dude is just collateral damage.
I've never followed any sort of "bro code." My general rule is only to not do things that piss me off when other people do them.

That's the spirit. Cliff'em all.
So, use 15"s and 12"s?

They are together. He just made it seem like it's not serious when I first met him and she's made similar statements.

I think they are just on the tail end of something who knows. I'll see what comes of it. I'll ask my friend who introduced us later/see if I can direct her interest in a fun way.

I have no 12's... Just 3 15's. My gk mbe212 cabs were a sadness.

Be mindful of those situations, bruv. I know too many couples who spend more time arguing than talking and seem like they're genuinely incompatible but have this frustrating habit of breaking up but getting back together and repeating the cycle. Its like...that's the life they know and can't bring themselves to move on so they continuously repeat the same mistakes...with each other?

I don't get it. At all. But I see it SO often.

Gonna need a bigger boat.
You need to punch some air if your going to keep up with two stacks. 500 SS watts is not going to make it. Main thing is get a balanced setup. Old rule still applies. More speakers more volume.
I want to try the SB300 with the neo 810.
For now two rigs I have are compromises. 1 Pre/Power amp 2x210 and the other RB400 and 215.
For me there is only one guitar player to compete with.
