go to bassstringsonline, you can make your own set (cheaper than buying 5 string set) in a lot of the major brands.
You should be willing to willing to file a new nut. It can make the difference in sustain and intonation.
They are really expensive, that said I did just order strings from Dingwall internationally and they were not cheap. Difference is, Dingwall has customer service that responds. IME Circle K did not.
This is where I would look too.
Know them. In italy they are hard to find at decent prices. Not really looking for ultra heavy sets right now though.

The last set of standard strings I bought in the store were ~$35 with tax. The Circle K strings were $50 shipped. I could return the D'Addario's if there was a problem. I couldnt even get a return email from Circle K.
I ordered 6 sets of Dingwall strings. Cost me ~$200 shipped internationally. That is actually less than what I could buy a decent set off the shelf here for. So with all that stacked up, for me, the Circle K's are too expensive.
I would have thought that a EU based manufacturer wouldnt be too expensive in Italy. Shame really. No reason they should cost that much.
All this gives me grumpy fuel. The next guitard that complains about not having the cash to replace his $6 set of strings is going to get smacked.

That Tyler the Creator is a really cool album, he's such a weird dude.
Never checked the Dingwall prices. In a store the least you'd pay for a set of five decent strings (D'Addario) is 30-35€. But some stores happily charge 45€ for the same pack of strings.
Unless you are playing a Dingwall Bass, using their strings doesnt make much sense. What does a set of Kalium strings cost you in Italy? Unless I was needing some nonstandard string gage, the D'Addario's were my favorite off the shelf strings. At 30-35€ they are not super expensive either.
I'd have to buy them direct and pay import taxes, don't really recall how much I'd pay but it ended up being around 60€ for a set.
D'Addario's are what I use too; I liked DR better, but DA's are cheaper and sound great nonetheless.
If I could get a DA style chrome flat in Dingwall scale that is what I would be using.
I actually have a set of chromes that's been sitting in my drawer for some months. And I've never tried flats before. Just waiting for the strings on my bass to break or wear out or die completely, right now I like their sound so no reason to change them.
I'm resurrecting a bass which will be a fretless, and if the space allows it (it's a weird and approximate "build") I will put an MM pup on it. Maybe that's what those strings are waiting for.
I like that I can go from butter smooth, to snarl. It is part of why I am getting a Combustion with the NG-2 body route. It will let me stack the pick ups down in the sweet spot.

Nice. I was thinking something like that on my Spector euro, routing some space between the two soapbars and sticking another pup in there. Haven't yet checked which sweet spots become available though.

The shape is going to be a miniature half buzzard, half something I've seen here on TB years ago and only brely remember, but the design is yet to be finished. And I'm moving house currently so I have all sorts of crap to deal with, including wasting 200+ bucks in taxes that could have bought a nice envelope filter.
