Yeah, that was the only thing that really miffed me at all. Just that I asked him to send me the raw tracks and he edited a bunch of stuff. I think we even had a conversation about how it was the perfect length, not too many parts repeating and that sort of thing. Then I got the track and it was twice as long, had the jam part cut out and the structured part just repeated lol.

That's weird and kind of ******. Maybe he's just self-conscious about his playing in parts.

I think that's part of it, that he wanted to clean up his playing. I'm trying not to overthink it too much and turn it into something, I told exactly what I thought about it in a polite way and asked if he could send me the original jam track so I could hear what I played. We just keep having great chemistry jamming together, but then once I leave everything he does gives me the nagging feeling he's not on board with what I want to do. I just can't tell if it's in my head or reasonable, too many weird musician encounters and not enough actually being in bands for a few years in a row has totally skewed my sensitivity to stuff like that now.

Either way I'm still going to work on what I'm writing, because I like it.

I think I narrowed my high gain overdrive search down to a Catalinbread SFT. Seems like on guitar the gain can go from clean Ampeg to early 70's Rolling Stones to Kyuss sounds, plus it seems pretty doomy for bass. Any love here for the SFT?

I've been wanting to try one for a while. I think I actually bought one once, then something happened and it fell through. Like I paid someone via PayPal, then they had accidentally already sold it to someone else and gave me a refund, it was a while ago. I like the demos I've heard for it on guitar as well. I don't know that I would categorize it as high gain, but I guess it depends on your point of view.

I packed it up to get looked at and just now got the shipping label to send it back. I'm getting it looked at, I want it back and working this isn't a return. He's been on tour or whatever so it's been a wait just to send it back. Still need to get it sorted and shipped back too.

Bryce I can't find it on ebay anymore but there was an add for get a hundred dollars if your don't sell your sell phone yadda yadda, but the dude in the add was your evil twin. Like separated at birth thing going on. Your Walking Dead Walkway Garden pic reminded me of the add.

It seems pretty good for that, if you dig the tone. At the time I was trying to buy one I was also looking at the Fairfield Barbershop as well. I ended up getting an EBS Multidrive, which I think it much more subtle than either. I've never tried it on guitar, I mostly have used it for bass when I was playing my Traynor, to get the same tone I did at a higher volume at shows without shaking stuff off the walls.

My issue so far with this new interface is it doesn't show what page I'm on. If I backtrack I can't tell where I am.

Or is the current page a slightly brighter shade of grey/white?

That's the only gripe I have so far. It says if you look to the left of the page numbers (737 of 737 in this case), but it doesn't have the highlighted/dimmed look for the button of the page you're on. This thread can move so fast sometimes, I find that a valuable feature.

Yeah that is my issue, getting pushed tube sounds I dig at home levels. So the amp in box thing should do the trick and the SFT seems to be the flavor I dig and seems to have enough gain to please me. I really dig the Solidgoldfx Beta but that only does low gain edge of breakup Ampeg sound which I love but doesn't cut it for stoner on guitar. The Solidgoldfx Zeta does low to medium gain but has an annoying high mids flavor to it IMO. In my dream world the pedal sound I would love is a Super Fuzz with all the heavy goodness but without the octave warble sounds for chording and more sustain.

Don't see that fraction thing just tried it out. I clicked on page 734. Then clicked 737 and it kept going to the next one like the next button not a direct jump.

Note: I'm using a iPhone 5 without the last updates, and I'm on safari not the app. And vertical mode also, on the iPhone if you flip it horizontal it expands and gives you more of a desktop experience, but I hate holding my phone that way. This stuff doesn't show in horizontal mode though either.

You should check out the Boss FZ-2. It's the same sound, but without the octave. Definitely super thick and heavy sounding. There are probably some others that are currently in production that are based off a similar circuit, I'd wager.

What's the diff in the fz-2 and the fz-5?

The FZ-5 is a modeling fuzz. I've never owned one though, so I can't say how it actually sounds or stacks up against the FZ-2. The FZ-2 is similar to Super Fuzz or Shin-Ei or any of those similar types of really thick, Japanese made fuzzes. It has 3 modes, a boost (why?), the fuzz and a thicker more mid scooped fuzz.

You should check out the Boss FZ-2. It's the same sound, but without the octave. Definitely super thick and heavy sounding. There are probably some others that are currently in production that are based off a similar circuit, I'd wager.

Oh Lordy, poor old Ron FN Swanson may be given his walking papers. Thanks, good to know. I think I need to come to terms that it is ok to just play power chords and other two note chords in heavy music on guitar but even then I still need more sustain that Ron is giving me for low and slow.

I'm a caveman when it comes to guitar. I like big heavy power chords, so almost every pedal or amp I love really supports that big beefy sound. Those little strings are good for something, I just almost never use them lol.
