We didn't have any hard feelings about it, it was more an excuse to get out of the house than anything. I've played shows where it was advertised to start at 8pm and didn't start until 1am and everyone was losing their mind and had the worst attitude by the time we played.

Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

So my pickup screws stripped out when installing them. They always do that... How do I not have that happen/remove these terrible things?
If you're using a drill or powered screwdriver - stop doing that. Otherwise I got nothin.
I had working with those tiny screws, kind of dreading starting the Jazzbird build because of drilling the small holes. Rebuild with wood filler or put in screw inserts to fix it. I am learning to never tighten too much with guitar screws.
Hand power idk I suck with screws. I wonder if there's p bass pickup size mounting screws that use hex wrench heads. Those would be so much easier to mount. Maybe I should pre drill the holes, but there already existed previous holes.
I saw online that you put some steel wool in the hole and then use the same screw.
I would find a narrow tooth pick. Break it off slightly shorter than the hole is deep, and put it in there before you start the screw.
Screw head is stripped not the wood. So it's like the Philips x is now a o with slight x.
Find a screw extractor set with small sizes. Or if you have a needle file make a slot across it for a flathead screwdriver to remove it.
askrere, not much to do about fixing a stripped screw head, but you might want to try a screwdriver with a more blunt tip. Either that or file it down a bit. Sometimes screwdrivers with very sharp tips just destroy small zinc/pot metal screws. If you can find a suitable replacement type/size at a local hardware store, might want to consider getting a stainless steel one that's a bit more sturdy.
Checking out the new Electric Wizard, the riffs are ok, but my god the lyrics are terrible to the point where they become comical. They have become caricatures of themselves, a little like Snoop Dog. I do like the production, they did a good job on this one. Not a jumbled mess, nice separation between the instruments, but as usual the drums are a little too buried for my tastes.
relaxer was really fun at the harvard and stone, singer/guitarist, lead guitarist, drummer, and a keyboardist, liked the music a lot, got some math rock frenzy stuff, some pretty harmonizing, some 60s psych action, some stoner hard stuff, a little foray into tastefully danceable beats, and a droning ebo leads on the last song. i hadn't seen jamie play guitar in maybe 14 years so it was pretty cool to check these guys out to see how the erratic post-hardcore and more stoner elements would coalesce. they told me that they were playing at about ten percent their usual volume so it might be a little cleaner than they're used to. back in ohio jamie was the first person i ever saw use a full marshall stack in a tiny pizza place, so i guess it's still about feeling it as much as hearing it
I don't think I could name you any Electric Wizard lyrics, outside of the title lyrics like "Dunwich--wich--wich--wich....".
I remember: "I hope this shaging world shaging burns away, and I'd kill you all if I had my way." Which, in retrospect, is some high-school level angsty ********.

If I'm being honest, I almost never pay attention to lyrics anymore. With a few exceptions, with bands where the vocals are very up front and provide the hook to the song.
I usually pay attention to the lyrics. I hope people pay attention to Supervoid lyrics cause I think they are awesome.
i thought this song was about a witch coven, then i thought it was about the abandoned coastal village in england that was eaten by the sea, and then finally i learned that it was about the lovecraft story, i guess my fascination with halloween has effected my ability to be objective

I used to care about lyrics, but I ended up writing all the lyrics for 3 or 4 bands and probably over 100 songs. I stopped listening, paying attention to and analyzing lyrics because I didn't want to unintentionally rip anyone off and then I stopped singing in bands and just got more engrossed in the riffs and arrangement of songs. I do appreciate good lyrics.
