Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread Pt. 22 - Design The Skyline is DOOM

from the last thread:

Niff,Heathen Skulls are set to announce a tour by a big doom band this weekend.
I've heard a heap of rumors floating around that a few touring groups have been trying to get Electric Wizard out our way.
What are your thoughts?

i've heard rumours of neurosis & electric wizard coming down this half of the globe. i'm hoping for sleep, though.

Sub'd

gotta admit... all the negative feedback is making me check the Design the Skyline.
I must say there was a time when Victory Records had a lot of good bands and a bunch of solid releases... It has been going down hill brakeless for quite some time now.

Ok.... That was awful.
I'm going to rant a little... I've never been a fan of mixing heavy music with other genres... Now it's one thing to take very different influences and craft a unique sound where elements of said influences are audible. BUT mashing together 2 totally different genres generally results in POOP unless your Bad Brains! I apply these feelings to screamo, metalcore, rap-metal, evanescence, and much more. For my tastes I want my metal heavy, my doom sludgy, and my punk fast.. If i want to listen to something electronic there are plenty of electronically based bands that I like, i don't need to listen to some kids mix their korg with rehashed chugging breakdowns and screaming. I know that running a label is a job but come on! There are a lot of successful labels who continue to sign and produce GOOD Bands.... Boo on Victory... Boo Indeed
