Double Bass Stool Selection

I'm sick of finding stools wherever I go to play. The one I currently use is just some random wooden stool from target or something and it isn't exactly portable. I'm looking for something cushioned, folding, LIGHT, and somewhat cheap (100-150). Any ideas?

I'd stay clear of concertdesign if you're on a budget. Their stool are very comfortable but there prices are outlandish. $300+ for an adjustable aluminum stool with padded seat.

Mur-van makes an equivalent stool that is around 100 CAD except it's a little on the heavy side. It's adjustable and looks quite identical to anything being made by Concert Design.

I got my stool from an unpainted furniture store, varnished it myself and then upholstered a padded seat, works really well.

I don't like playing while sitting down; that said, I have my stool behind me to sit on during rests, breaks, etc. Now, I can get away with a cheapo stool since I don't depend on it. I just feel that sitting down while playing throws off the whole body geometry, IMHO.

Warning against the lemur folding stool. I used one of those stools for a while and it was the cause of a lot of tension in my lower back. After much use the seat started to tilt a little. It was still stable but not at a good angle for playing. Also, the foot rest was too low for me. I wouldn't recommend this as your main stool but if you want something just for gigs than it is a good buy.
