store expectations

so i was checking out some gear around town today and i got to thinking about wha bass players expect or what they like to see when they hit the music stores,

personally , if i'm going to buy something i like to see that the store has made a commitment to the low end by stocking a full range of bass gear. not just entry level stuff.
i also expect to be speking to someone who knows what they are talking about. i.e. a (insert instrument here) player trying to talk to me about basses when they have know working knowledge on the topic is one thing that will make me spend my hard earned elsewhere.

what do you guys think?

In a perfect world, yea. Fact is, you'd better go in knowing all about whatever it is you want to buy. Thank goodness for this here Internet thing, lots of good information there.

Any store has as first on its agenda making enough money to survive. On down the list somewhere is helping make the best purchase for you.

i wonder if many stores realise that if te make the efort and do the right thing by helping you make the best purchase for you they will gain a valuable asset in a happy customer who will in turn recommend your store as the local place for bass needs. it really is just logic. i reckon.
