Seems a good time to share a load-in almost gone bad.
Except for some timely help from these two, plus another canine friend.

I used to live in Venice CA - when it was a very bad area, and I lived literally 2 blocks from the open air crack market.

There was no garage, and little street parking, so when I'd come home from gigs, I'd double park, check 360, go open the front door and let the dogs into the yard (they were dancing around crazy happy that I'd come home and wouldn't have stayed in anyway) and then load my gear in.

This particular night was the 4th night in a row of a 5 night gig about an hour's drive away. I was beat when I got out of the car. And it just so happened that night that my then GF was staying over, with her dog (a Great Pyrenees, who added another 120 lbs of dog to the mix).

I double parked as usual, and let the dogs into the yard, but being tired didn't check my surroundings as well as normal.
I was bent over the back hatch of my hatchback car when I turned to notice a guy veering over toward me on the sidewalk. big, late "uh oh..."

Just then 300 lbs of dog (the Big Black Dog, the Dobie, and the Pyr) all hit the fence at once in full bark. I watched this guy bounce across the street - his feet touched ground once in the middle, he was moving so fast. Maybe he was veering around a puddle in the sidewalk that I didn't see :D

Anyway, he kept going, and the dogs all got extra treats when we got inside. :ninja:

I actually think he was a zombie.. time for you to visit the "Zombie Attack" thread in the OT subforum! :D

My dog pushed me out of the street when I was about 3. My mom looked away from me for once second, I ran onto the road, dog pushed me back into the grass, car zoomed by.

Everyone was safe.. good day in my book!

That's great :) I love dogs.
My brother's got a labrador and it's the gentlest puppy you can imagine but he's protective. If you heard his bark without seeing him, it'd scare the s**t out of you. I don't know how he gets such a loud noise out of such a small chest (he's not even 2 years old) but it keeps junk-mail and polling-politicians from my brother's house :D

Yep thumbs-up for dogs :D great pets and great alarm systems and deterrents.

Wow. I'm not a dog person, but in a place like that I might learn to become one. That's one thing that dogs have over cats: they are considerably better at watching your back.

We used to have a cat that would sit in a nook above the porch steps. If he did not recognize you, he would jump on you . . . hissing, clawing, etc.

Only cat I have ever seen that was worth a damn.
