Strange noises when pressing down frets?

I got my Ibanez GSR-180 yesterday. Yay!:hyper:
But, it had fret buzz so I adjusted the action and THE TRUSS ROD :O and it stopped buzzing. Now, whenever I press down say, the 12th or any fret, it makes a weird, almost two tone noise, and one of the tones is out of tune? Could this be to do with the truss rod, or is it the new strings I put on (RotoSound 40-100)?

I believe you may be hearing the string ringing between your finger and the bridge, AND the string ringing between your finger and the nut. This is usually because the board is a little too flat; increase the relief a bit, it will go away.

It may also just be something you hear when not amplified. Plug in, and turn it up. :)

I asked if he was plugged in because if I ever get this, I don't hear it amplified.

Loosen the truss rod, but only by a tiny bit at a time.

Press down the A string at the first and 15th fret. Now, look at the string from the side of the bass at the 8th fret. There should be a small gap between string and the fret, I like mine a little less than the width of a credit card. If there's not enough gap there, loosen the truss rod. Again, by maybe 1/16th of a turn at a time.

Yes. Lots of problems go away at full volume. :)

Pssssccht!

I meant specifically that the pickup isn't between the finger and the nut. *wink wink*
