i've only seen one of these once... it played amazingly well and it was cheaper than a sg reissue (about $700)
You're looking for a Hagstrom.

Don't forget the Danelcctro Longhorn if you want a "funny-looking" short scale.
The Vampy Weeks dude also uses(d) a Mosrite... i think the originals, as well as the Univox copies and the Eastwood Reissues are AMAZING looking and sounding basses. http://eastwoodguitars.com/

Also, Mod a Squier Bronco!!! That's what i'm doing. Super DUPER cheap. A lot of my fave bands (i'm a die-hard 90's indie-pop fan) use Musicmasters, and a moded Bronco can get that tone, pretty cheaply... or just buy a vinty Musicmaster ($400-$700).
+1 to a Dano long-horn.
i found one like the 2nd evilbay post at a local used music store for $60!!!! brought it home and cleaned her up, through a set of strings on.........killer action, very neck heavy, and feeds back like a motherf!@$#*. best 60 bux i've spent in awhile
Does this count? It's strange, and shortscale. It's not 60's, though...

Get one of these.
... the teardrop, not the random crap in the background.
I think the random crap completes the "look"

You and me both.
And there is a lot more of it now...![]()

So basically you want a bass that is:
1. Old
2. plays good
3. sounds good
4. doesn't cost much
Good luck, dude....![]()
