Just what the title says. Funny, weird or whatever.

I've got a couple but I thought I'd start off with the story from my drummer that prompted this thread.

About five years ago, my drummer, his girlfriend and his parents were in Las Vegas for a weekend. On Saturday he and his Dad decide to go see Bruce Willis And the Accelerators (don't ask me, I mock him regularly for this) and are enjoying the show but they keep noticing this skinny guy with a mohawk running around the stage. He's getting water, he's taking pictures, he's talking to Bruce between songs etc. A bit strange, but whatever.

After the show my drummer and his dad have a late night dinner in one of the casino steak houses. While eating they spot this same guy walking with three or four women and a couple dudes. So my drummer flags him down and says, "hey we saw you at the show. You looked a bit out of place, are you a roadie?". The guy says no, that he's a friend of Bruce's and helps him out a bit when he's in town, but actually he's a musician himself, a drummer. My drummer says he is too and they talk a bit. Finally, my drummer asks what kind of band he plays in. He responds, "we sound a lot like Blink 182." My drummer makes a weird face and then says, "oh, I don't know if you want to sound like them. I think their music sucks."

Mr. Mohawk (who is of course actually Travis Barker from Blink 182) leans in and says, "I make more money than you'll ever dream of" and walks away with his hangers on.

Pretty much exactly the douche like response I would have expected.

I've never encountered anyone extremely famous. I've had dinner with a local Senator (before he was a Senator) and he was a little dumb, but nothing remarkable.

I was called "stupid" or somesuch by a congressman's mother once at a political rally I attended with a group of friends...but we weren't there to show our support, so I guess her reaction was at least somewhat justified.

Lastly, my wife's family had dinner with Dick Cheney a long time ago, but he didn't bring a shotgun, so again....nothing good to say.

Ok.

I was walking down the hall when I notice a familiar face walking towards me. I knew that I've seen him somewhere, but try as I might, I could not remember his name. I decided to wave anyway and oddly enough just as I raise my hand, he does the same. I started thinking "He must recognize me from when my band played earlier today." I tried to say "Hi! How are you doing", but only got out "Hi! How are...." before I noticed that he said something at the same time; it was very weird, it was like perfect unison.

So I wait, expecting him to restart his greeting, but he just stands there. After a few moments I notice that he's just staring at me with this really weird look on his face. I became very uncomfortable and decided to just give up on this attempt at a conversation, but as I try to go around him, he steps over and blocks my path. A little irritated now, I try going the other way and again he cuts off my escape. I became very nervous, and started to get the feeling that he wanted to fight me. I try one last time to go around and as he steps in my way, I let loose a haymaker that cracks open the world. I turn away cradling my broken hand, thinking "Wow! His head is hard as a rock!" I turn back around with my good fist raised, half-expecting to just get rocked, but as I look around the floor amidst the blood and broken glass, he was nowhere to be found.

Sadly I've done the same thing. It was at a club after I'd had a couple drinks. I kept almost running into this guy at what I thought was a door. . .

Back to the topic at hand, nobody else has any stories to share?

Nice job.

I met Mudvayne back in 2005, and I had quite the odd experience with their bassist Ryan and singer Chad, although hilarious. I was at a meet and greet. Once I got up to them, Ryan points to my goatee and says "Is that real? or do you have extensions" I with an odd expression on my face replied " Yeah, I've been growing it for the past 4 years. " Than he turned and looked at Chad ( who at the time had extensions in his goatee as he always used to) and says " told you thats 100 bucks."

I just laughed and insisted on a picture of him pointing at my goatee with chad looking envious. Definitely the nicest band I have ever met.

Alright, here's a story from my freshman year at Cal.

Every Wednesday my fraternity would have Kappa events, just fun stuff to do and hang out. Broomball, comedy club, Warriors games etc. To save money we'd have to do a number of free activities so we could afford the expensive ones. One of those free activities was a scavenger hunt.

On the list that night was "lipstick print and autograph from a woman", of varying points starting at 100". The idea was to get explicit things written on bar napkins, the dirtier the better. So our group was out in San Francisco collecting stuff when we happen upon a movie set. So we stop to check it out and discover that it's a Sandra Bullock movie (it turned out to be "The Net" if anyone knows the film) and so we ask around to see if we can get an autograph. Finally, her makeup lady says she'll see what she can do. She goes inside the trailer and 30 seconds later returns with a signed napkin.

As we are getting ready to leave, Sandra Bullock comes out and talks to us a bit. Very cool, very down to earth and after hearing why we wanted the autograph, gives us a lipstick print and signs another napkin, "To the sexy beasts at [our fraternity], Love Sandra Bullock.

We got 2000 points for that which we figured would put us over the top with the rest of our haul. But every scavenger hunt list had a joke 10,000 point item. This night's turned out to be a meter maid cart - which one team went out and temporarily stole. A heartbreaking loss to this day.

At my previous job, I had a long term project in Midtown Manhattan, specifically, 53rd and 6th. For the first year or so I worked at that job, I was there half the time, and for the following 2 years, I was there every few weeks. I was only at the job for 3 years.

Anyway, I had 3 different celebrity encounters there, but only 1 of them weird.

First, they were filming Michael Clayton right in that area. In fact, the office scenes were filmed in the building I was working in. So I actually ran into George Clooney a few times. He's an all right guy.

Second, they were filming a lot of Spiderman 3 in that area as well. Specifically, the whole part with the collapsing crane. Not the crane itself of course, that was all special effects, but the area was shot a few times, and the end of the scene, where he talks to the blonde, that was across the street from where I was working. So I met Tobey Maguire once. Don't like that guy. He was brushing most people off. Goon.

Last, again, same area, but not a movie. I was going a few blocks up to get lunch one day. I'm waiting to cross the street north. I'm on the west side of a street. A crowd of people cross the street over to where I'm standing. As I'm standing there, this woman, drunk (it's 11:00AM), stumbles into me. She looks at me, says excuse me (Slurs it, actually), tries to push me, but just pushes herself away, because I'm big, and wasn't drunk, and proceeds to stumble down the sidewalk. It was Lisa Rinna.

She did not look like that at the time. She looked like hell, and was totally wasted, but I'm sure it was her.

I actually have not met any celebrities, but someone I know met Sammy Hagar by freak accident when docking a boat in Cabo San Lucas.

Closest I've come to meeting one was (ironically enough, also Sammy Hagar), at one of his concerts, I was right up by the stage, and Sammy spilled his tequila on me.
