Double Bass String Emporium

I don’t see a problem with the strings. The bending is just a little bit more than normal. Since you already have complained, you now could use the strings and if they have a problem or break you can tell them that you complained before and want a free replacement.
Just keep your mail and pics so you can proof that you complained immediately.

From the other thread on how to fix a broken spirocore: you can tie a double fisherman's knot with a spirocore mittel if it breaks in the pegbox and they will work fine for years with almost no damage to the core...

OP, did you pay with a credit card or PayPal? If so, lodge a complaint with them and let 'em go to bat for you. I've had blessedly few issues over the years, but have found the threat of escalation very effective. Another possibility would be to email SE to let them know that you consider the strings defective, will install them in absence of a response from them, and will hold them liable in case of a string failure. Keep a copy.

It's pretty hard to hurt a Spirocore... if the winding isn't dented and the string doesn't break, I bet it'll last for years and years.
That's an understatement if I ever heard one:). A Spiro bass string is maybe the most durable manufactured product mankind has ever created.

I was really surprised how well wrapped an oliv g I got from string emporium was recently. It came fast and was packaged with a lot of cardboard. I bet you could throw that mittel on and the tension would iron out the small bend- (doesn’t look kinked). 5-10 years from now when your looking for advice on new strings come across this thread and just laugh. Then order from string emporium again and get still the best deal.

Except maybe this... My wife inherited her grandmother's sewing machine. It still works perfectly, as far as I know, and came with a 35 year warranty when new. It's about the only thing I'm aware of that could top your claim :)
Indeed! We have a Singer sewing machine which still has the treadle. A motor was added later. I've no idea how old it is, but still functions perfectly. If you know what you are doing of course. I can do things with it, but my wife has to set things up for me first.

I've had nothing but good experiences with String Emporium. They're one of my go-to shops for strings, etc, depending on what I'm getting. I did have an order delayed a bit once but I called them and spoke to someone extremely friendly who apologized for the delay and explained that they had been waiting on one of the strings to come back in stock. I think the order was here the next day or the day after that. We all have our own expectations for stuff like this, I guess.

There is a slight bend in the strings. It is clearly a BEND, not a KINK, which means the steel core has been flexed but it has NOT been pushed past it's elastic breaking point. If that was the case, I think you'd be entitled to a replacement string, but as is, under tension, the core will flex right back into shape be 100% straight and usable. It hasn't been permanently damaged.

I bought my bass from Steve, talked to him on the phone twice, seemed like a great guy. Was pretty good answering emails too.
