String ID? Hofner CT

So, I have a Hofner CT 500/1, with the stock rounds on it. I'd like to try flats, but I don't know what the gauges are, so if anyone knows, could you tell me?

And uh..sorry for the huge picture..my phone took it that way.

Why do you care what the "stock" gauges are? My Hofner Galaxy CT had a 95 "E" on it that I replaced with a 107 (I hate flabby "E" strings on a short scale) - yours probably is a 95 set too.

These would sound awesome on it but note that the 115 "E" will probably require the nut slot to be widened :( :

Cause don't you have to change the truss rod with different strings?

Edit: Never mind, I found them online. They are: .040, .060, .075, .095.

Try using Hofners own flatwound strings, you will not be disappointed with them.

They are wound and made by Pyramid, so there quality is second to none....I use them on my basses and they are by far one of the best flatwound I have used.

Of course, everyone has their favorites. This is not meant to be exhaustive, only to get you started.

For people new to Hofner basses this might be useful.

Thomastik-Infeld Jazz Flatwound low tension strings for Hofner basses are designated as:

Note that roundwounds and flatwounds of the same gauges can have quite different tensions. Also that IME most nuts are slotted to be OK with sets up to 105-50. If it's a little tight you can usually open it up enough using the target string as a half-arse file  .

And if the tensions are different, don't I have to mess with the truss rod?
Yup - my point was that putting the same gauges on from a different style of string or even a different manufacturer may require it anyways. I never worry about whether the truss rod needs tweaking with a new set of strings - I just expect it. Same goes for adjusting the bridge saddles for height and intonation.

I've never done that (ever), and with the Hofner..the bridge is different. Adjusting the bridge saddles and intonation, along with the truss rod scares me.
