I have Bass Mutes on a fretted 6 of mine. They work well. I didn't have any communication problems with them. It works quite well and I'll has the advantage of being able to be fine tuned so the tone is very consistent from string to string.

never heard of that. sounds cool. if you use pick id say palm mute, but that is a good idea especially for original songs
