string - pup misallignment

This is a picture before fixing and although the photo angle is somehow misguiding us, probably the neck needed some repositioning here. However, I dismantled the neck from body too and I think I have fixed it now , but will have a second look tonight (to be certain)

yeah, i realized that it was the 'before' pic after i posted it, but you should check it's a lignment anyway.
BTW, great job on sticking with it and solving its problem. ;)

Regarding the bridge design and the break angle of the strings: Leo's original design of the StingRay bridge was not like that. The original was a string through body design and the strings were winding like snakes over the saddle around the spring screw into the holes. You can see pictures of that on the aforementioned musicmanbass.org website. The design for the original Sabre bridge, which became the base concept for the later G&L bridges, was a top loader bridge that introduced this break angle. I guess that since this seemed to work well enough, and milling for a top load bridge is much cheaper than for a string through body design, the the design for the original StingRay brige was altered to the one shown above somewhere around 1980.
