string - pup misallignment

I own a pre EBMM (1982) stingray and have noticed that there is a significant misallignment of the G (and D) string with the pickup poles (see photo).

I also noted that while playing, D and G strings do not have the same power compared to E and A.

Do you think this misallignment is a bass defect and this relates to the reduced power of the D,G strings?

Is there any way I can fix this somehow?

it looks like your saddles are not lined up properly. the low E is supposed to be to the inside of the large hex bolt which keeps the saddles aligned between the two of them. your's is on a big angle, so all of the others are biased to the bass side of the neck. i'd bet that your intonation is also not set properly with the E saddle so far back.

loosen your strings and align the saddles between the two large mounting bolts, and then check out its alignment over the pickup. the saddles ends should be contacting each other.

Thanks
I'll try to post some more pics from different angles also.

Do you think that if E and A saddles are brought forward and aligned with D and G the strings will also move to the right (G side)?

Just google image "stingray bridge" it clearly shows that the saddles are meant to be in between the two big Hex bolts!

That would move all your strings a bit closer to the G side and fix your issue!
Make sure you set the intonation properly, your 12th fret harmonic should be in tune with your 12th fret fretted note.
Tune up a string using the 12th fret harmonic and then compare it to the fretted 12th fret.
If your fretted note is sharp your string is to short, if your fretted note is flat your string is to long, move the saddle in the right direction a little until both notes are in tune...

I don´t wish to hijack this thread...but...:D

Can you point me (and the maybe the OP) in the direction of the "best" thread on TB to set up the bridge, saddles, etc. I have searched, but generally it includes collecting info from various sources and posts, and the in depth ones just focus more on the neck. I was just wondering if there was sort of a "bible" to bridges??

There isnt much to it really, just tweak the height of the saddles until you get the string height you like, either following the radius of the fretboard or if your like me as a flat line going down from E to G ( just put a small ruler flat on the strings at the bridge to judge how they are compared to each other) keep in mind that adjustments in height change intonation and adjustment to intonation changes height to some extent so it is a good idea to do intonation after setting height...

Dont forget that action is a combination between neck relief and string height at the bridge! Dont try to get the strings super high at the bridge if your neck has back bow or the strings super low at the bridge if your strings has a massive front bow! You need to find the right middle between both settings...

Done

ok clear . Saddles need rearrangement .

How about the pup height? E side should be higher than G side?

And how about pup poles height? G poles are lower compared to E and A.
Should all poles be at same level?
