String silk rests on nut, bridge in wrong spot?

I have a ric clone and for some reason the silk of the string rests on the nut. The strings are Roto 66s long scale, so i dont think the strings are the problem. Is it possible that the bridge is in the wrong position?

The tailpiece even on a real Ric is farther back from the bridge, than say, on a P-Bass.
I use Chromes on my P-Bass as well as my Ric and even with the slightly shorter scale the silks are much closer to the nut on my Ric than they are on my P-Bass.
My only suggestion would be to use extra-long strings.

Yep, need longer strings. Scale length only refers to the distance between the bridge and the nut. What size strings you need has to also take into account the distance from the string anchor at the bridge to the nut. It's the same reason D'Addario long-scale strings don't work on through-body bridges and you need to get their extra-long scale sets.

Yeah, it does seem like the 'scale' is wrong for your bass... However, I actually have unwound and successfully rewound silk on some brand-new Carvin bass strings(once) and it did improve the position of the silk position/margin. But it was tedious and did not look perfect when I was done... but yes, it can be done.

Yes but look at the E string--that's never going to sound good, even if you take the silk off!

LOL, Don'tchya just hate buying new strings and finding out when you get em home that they are for a short scale bass???? :(
IMO>That E string looks like it's off a child size bass, that' way short.:D
Looks like the bridge on yer 'Rick is in the right place to me.
