String spacing on Hofner basses

The string spacing is the same on both models. That's because they share the same neck, bridge, tailpiece.

Thanks for your reply.

I'm in an indie/Blues Rock band and I'm looking at getting a Hofner as an alternative to my Rickenbacker and Jazz Bass. I tried one in a Music Shop and fell in love with it.

I only tried the Ignition series Violin Bass but saw/picked up the HCT version. What one would you recommend? obviously the HCT has the centre block.

Also, do you find playing Hofners fingerstyle ok? I play mostly fingerstyle and would like to on a Hofner. I tried it out and it seemed fine but that was just sitting down.

The CT's are fine basses. And the Ignitions are very good. If you played an Ignition, and loved it, may as well stop there and save the money. I have 12 Hofners, and have found picking, along with light palm muting is 'my sound'. (just like that famous guy...lol), but anchoring at the end of the neck by the bass pickup is where I go when playing fingerstyle. You may also want to investigate using flats too. I have rounds on one Hoffy just for kicks, but they do (to my ears) have a more solid sound with flats...

My unbadged long-scale Hofner-ish bass with the ambiguous chrome-covered pickups sounds great with flats: big, round, booming tone when finger-plucked, and the string spacing is not *too* narrow. I've got a huge sponge mute wedged between the bridge and the bridge pickup to make the bass my ersatz DB for an upcoming community band concert.

Hey guys, sorry to ressurrect such and old thread. But I am totally newbie about Hofners, I am trying yo setup my Ignition to its best, what is the actual string spacing at the bridge? Also let me know if you are measuring from center to center of each string or from the sides, or total string spacing from E to G.

I will appreciate any help, I've tried to find this info on Talkbass and other sources but no success.

Thanks,
Renan
