Stringing a Right Handed bass to make it LH

I say she should learn right handed

I am a lefty, and I decided to learn right. Just gives you more options on what you can get, plus I thought it was beneficial to learn right handed

I play lefty strung righty. Thats the way I learned and have been doin it successfully for about 22 years. There have been many times that I wished I would have played righty but oh well. I say get her a lefty bass, string for a lefty and dont look back, She'll be better off that way. Or just have her play righty. Lots of players I know are left handed but play righty. I am right handed and play lefty.LOL!!

So you play a left handed bass with your left hand plucking and right hand fretting, with the E string on the side closest to the floor, and the G string on the side closest to your head? Am I reading that right?

Or do you mean you play a left handed instrument, flipped around to the right hand side, and strung with the E on the top and the G on the bottom?

thanks guys, i don't think she has played either so i will encourage her to play right handed.

now i have the problem with my RH freind who only has a LH guitar

I play this way as well. For slapping, I use a picking hand hammer-on on the fretboard, for popping I use a thumb pull. This bassically results in the ability to "slap" twice as fast and "pop" 1/2 as fast. It also limits the use of slap/pop training videos quite a bit.

The next person who says she should just play right handed needs to be shot just kidding, but seriously, stop chiming in on something you don't understand, nobody tells you to start driving your car with the gas and brake pedal switched, you can't change life. there are certain dexterities in your hands that feel much more comfortable in one position than another. Everyone keeps bringing up Jimi Hendrix.... so why didn't he just play right handed? Maybe because it was uncomfortable? Sheesh!

When I started out, I could only afford a cheapy bass and the only ones I could find were right-handed. So I bought one, flipped the strings over, and played it lefty until I could afford a lefty. It wasn't really a problem, and I didn't have to do it for long as I visited a pawn shop with the same model in a lefty, and they traded me straight up.
