Stringjoy - Best strings in the WORLD

For me, if a brand can’t be exceptional on price I’m sticking with what I know and love; DR, LaBella, Chromes and Cobalt Flats.

The only strings that are very exceptional in price, and I like the strings irrespective of price, is webstrings.com - ELECTRIC BASS 4 STRING - WEBSTRINGS DETROIT BASS - NICKEL ROUNDWOUND

*That* is a brand that’s essentially unknown here, probably ‘cuz they’re not sold on eBay or Amazon so people don’t stumble upon them when filtering for “lowest price” which is how brands like Silvertone get discovered.

Great strings, and great customer service. I use a variety of different manufacturers for my strings, but the one thing I like about Stringjoy is the customization. The TOOL tribute I play in needs a drop D tuning, so not having to piece together a set from the major manufacturers is nice. I can order a set of 45-65-85-110, and they work great.

Many manufacturers do offer singles, including DR, SIT, D'Addario and GHS. I usually go through Jason at Fret Nation when I need singles and custom sets, who can put together any set of my choosing at a reasonable cost, definitely cheaper than Stringjoy.

It is funny how perception, marketing and a name like Stringjoy makes people think these are great. It is the same in the cigar world---slap a fancy band on it with a colorful scheme, tell people it is the best and a bunch of rubes will be coming back for more.
Alot of strings sound great right out of the gate, but the bull will throw you off pretty quick---basically going dull within a week or three. If you are a rock star and want to change strings every concert, great--- but, I get a few months outta my strings before they don't seem to impress me anymore.

Tried alot of strings and in my opinion, DR, Magma, Dogal, and Fodera have their finger on the pulse of strings these days--sound great, last a good while and are priced so the average bloak can snag a set.

I only used them for Baritone guitar because I have a long scale 29.5 and I used half-Nashville tuning*, so the custom sizing seemed the right thing to do. But they gave me one wrong string and never sent me a replacement. Best "Unresponsive" mail order company in the world. I found out I could get the same custom gauges by just talking to fret nation. So never using them again. No joy from me. I bought the 3 pack set. and had to buy 3 strings from Amazon.

Their strings were no better than D'Addarios, EB or GHS.

*My gauges from B to B - .072w, .056w, .018, .011, .026w, .0135

As far as I know, Stringjoy was never really about the "quality" of the string - it was always more about customization. They're in Nashville and started catering to all sorts of bizarre non-standard string set that the majors just weren't touching. They do it in every material they use, too. That's fine if that's what you need, but for us bass players, I've never been impressed with their offerings. I suspect their main customers order boxes of strings at a time in their favourite gauges and formulations.

I know what you’re saying. The instrument world doesn’t make their own strings,but will private label from some winder like GHS(Lakeland) etc. some won’t buy GHS but think Lakland strings are fantastic.

speaking of hype, when I was in my 20s in the 70s, you just weren’t with it if you didn’t sip “Lancers 69” wine, Like it was only for the cool kids,
Hootch is hootch regardless of the brand. At least that’s my opinion
