Strings for Ibanez gsrm20

Hello,
Just upgrade from my cheapo no name that had a 32.5 inch scale, but now all my strings are too long . I really like flatwounds, and high tension strings but it seems that most stores do not sell short scale strings. Can I just cut the strings, or would I break them?

Use old piano strings and chop off the excess
