Strings for Lakland Hollowbody?

Greetings Justin. I know you've talked about the Lakland Hollowbody, but I'm not sure if you actually own one. Anyway, I just picked one up and wondered if you had a flat wound string preference for this bass? What do you use on your Starfires? I wonder how Pyramids would sound on the Lakland? Thanks in advance.

Chromes. But why don't you check out those new D'Addario tape wounds? I love them strings.

I have that bass in green. Nice instrument, I just don't use it too much because, while having a great tone, it's fairly neutral, and I like my hollow bodies to be a little funkier.

It sounds really good with these strings,
I have also used lakland/GHS flats, they are ok, but kind of bland for this bass.
Also tried chromes and didn't really like them on it.

I play what is considered postpunk by most and groovy stuff from all walks of bass life and these strings are very nice all flat sounds.

I don't have the hollow body in question, (I'm actually considering buying it or a Jack Cassidy soon) but I have D'Ad tape-wounds on a Jazz bass right now. With the tone up, I'd definitely classify them as having some crispness. Maybe not brightness on top, but they definitely aren't as dark as flats.

The tape-wounds feel AMAZING too!! I got a set of them kind of on a whim when ordering a bunch of other things at the start of the summer, and they've been such a happy surprise. I'm not saying that they're gonna become an instant staple, but I'm definitely going to keep them around on something from now on. Everyone should check them out!! I don't think you'll regret it.

The Laklands now come with single coil ChiSonics so they have more mid texture compared to the humbucker models. I used to own an older one, and now have a newer single coil version and I like it a lot more.

if there is such a thing as a "musicman hollowbody" the lakland is it. the bridge pickup sits in the MM position, and the neck one gives the boom. I had mine rewired volume-pan-tone-tone. 1 knob move now gives a huge panorama. the lakland is a perfect mix of a high end expensive bass and a cheap plywood beater. it's the only bass that works with the deadkenny gs. its beefy tone also drives pedals well. wicked. the DR flats continue to sound great on it. nice top end. good fundamental.
