Strings that have completely changed your bass?

Tried multiple sets of strings on my Peavey Grind 6. Nothing blew me away until I tried La Bella Super Slappers (light gauge.) I had that "Ohhhhh, this is what it's supposed to sound like!" feeling. Beautiful piano like tones with fantastic harmonics and surprisingly little finger noise for SS strings. Also they finally satisfied my hunt for an articulate B string as well as a C string that sounded like it belonged with the other 5.

LaBella 760FL on a '79 maple neck Precision. That's the only "transformation" ever.

Other than that, I like the Dunlop nickel medium sets on my Stingray 5--a lot (even when they're dead)--and I like them very much on my Jazz Basses too, but just about any string sounds great on either of my Jazz Basses. Broken in Fat Beams sounded AMAZING on my 4 string Stingray. Pro Steels sounded best on my G&L L-1000.

when i put on rotowound swing bass strings they bought out a incredible punch and clarity i never thought possible with that bass but the punch man it will blow your mind seriously i think they were actual designed by john entwistle when he wanted more punch in his rig

I used to use nothing but Roto's 66 on both my fours and fives. I loved the sharpness of the strings. I liked how long they lasted compared to the competition. After about five or six years of exclusive use the prices started to get really high, and I fell out of love with them. They started to feel more tight than they had before and I no longer cared for their tone. I also never really got a great response out of any of my five strings with them. When I started stringing my five strings with La Bella's Hard Rockin' Steels my bass sounded like a completely different machine and thus have used nothing else for my five string basses. These strings bring so much character to my basses B strings. I read often about bass players hating the sound of Fender five strings, saying that the B sounds floppy and that it isn't very defined. My Fender American Deluxe (2008) has the best B string I have ever heard on a 34" scale bass period. I string through the body for added tension and the B string is tapered, it just brings about a tone that just lets my fivers sing. These strings have changed a lot for me and my playing. I strongly suggest that you give them a try if you have not already.
