Struggling with considering moving back to a pick

No one will look down on you here for playing with a pick only. If playing with a pick gets you the tone you want, then use it.

I started bass playing in early 70's and it was because of Mel Schacher from Grand Funk Railroad,so with his style,I needed a pick. Then,that was it! Now 50 years later,I'm back jammin' with my Bro's (real brothers) and I'm working on trying to use fingers. You guys can laugh,but for me,it's hard and I'm gonna keep it up with practice routine. We bass players are almost looking out because of all this digital sound equipment and sooner or later physical instruments will be history. Sad for the world. If the world could find a way to just get together country to country and jam,there would be peace on this planet. All musicians no matter what genre can jam and instantly get a common bond! Praise musicians!!!

I have a longer fingernail on my index finger which works well for a pick sound (either in hammerstroke or with the top edge for strumming). This is not the same as using a plectrum with alternating up-down strokes.
