I doubt they move the basses around too much (at the WDR symphony they usually stay in the house). And if they do probably in hard cases.
It's not the same as moving around with the bass rather often from gig to gig.
But I agree, for seams getting open because of humidity it doesn't make much difference for a ply or a carved bass. Would be much worse for the carved basses if it would be extremly dry.
