Stupid pick question

All the different pick materials sound and feel a little different. I went through a stage where I was trying every different material and shape I could get my hands on. I settled on 1mm thickness in the 'standard' shape. I used Dunlop Ultex for a good while, because I liked the difference in the attack. Gels were similar. Tortex has a slightly muted attack, comparatively. Celluloid is somewhere in between. What I'm getting at is you really have to try a bunch and find a pick that does what you want it to. I take a few different types to every gig. I use different picks for different sounds.

Back in my jazz band days, I used felt picks on some songs, they were hard to find and made an awful mess, but did a great job at mimicking a lightly plucked upright.
When I DO use a pick, I have some Dunlop 1mm nylon (both smooth and with grips), but my fav's are some black just slightly thicker than 1mm picks that shipped with a Digitech pedal pack that was a mail-in rebate thing 11 years ago. There was 8 of them in a bag, never seen anything else exactly like them. Indestructable, and still have most of them.

Ok this may seem very stupid, I have always played bass finger style, and while I play guitar with a pick I have never played bass with one, I have grab one of my guitar picks and mess around, but that is. My band does some songs that I feel would benefit tone wise if I used a pick.
My question, ready? Lol
What kind of pick do you use?
I remember seeing at one time picks that were marketed as bass picks, and I know there are specialty picks like felt.
I'm just curious, you basses that play with picks do you just use guitar picks?

Sure, if it seems like a song will benefit with the bass having that sound you can get easy with a pick, and you are ok with it, go for it. I would try both and see what sounds and works better for the song.

I don't believe in Bass and Guitar picks. Seems all the same to me. I use guitar picks when playing bass. Works just fine for me.
I agree with many of these posts that for thickness, try not to go under .7 mm. I find they bend too much. I don't like picks that have a point at the end or too rounded. The ol' standard guitar pick shape works great for me. And either plastic or nylon should be just fine (don't like picks made of metal).

I myself like to use (Jim Dunlop) Tortex Standard .88 mm (the green ones).
The ones above - 1.0 mm (blue) are cool also. Any thicker feels too stiff for me. These seem to have a coating on them that feels comfortable between my fingers and rarely drop them.
If nylon, going a bit thicker may be better as nylon seems to have more play in them (bending).

And try to find a pick that stays in your fingers - has some grip. Most standard plastic picks you may be picking up off the ground more often. (Unless the others in the band like to see that ...they all do.)

Clayton acetyl .88 large triangles. Just enough flex to give a nice "snap" for fast picking.
