Is Epiphone pronounced -Epiphone- with the "phone" as in tele"phone"? Or is it pronounced with the last syllable "phone" rhyming with something that is not real, but "fony"? I've heard it both ways the last few days, and I'm not sure myself! Thanks in advance!

Well, I had a guy ask me about Ibenez at a store today... is it the traditional SPanish pronuckiation (ih BAHN yez) or the way I say it in my head (EYE ben ez)?

The guy who founded Epiphone was of Greek origin: Epaminondas (Epi) Stathopoulos. The second half is -phone which means voice in Greek. So you have Epiphone
Realizing that I know next to nothing about basses, I was excited that there was a question I know the answer to. Then I realized that 6 other people beat me to it. Dang.
Perhaps whoever pronounced it the other way was in fact referring to Epifani, the bass amplifier manufacturer.
