Ok so my mom is band director and she got a whole bunch of Manhasset stands that this school that was going to throw away since they got new ones, so she gave me one. I already have stands so I want to paint/artwork this thing up as it is kinda trashed anyway. What do you guys think I should do?

While you are missing around with it give some thought to weighting the bottom so when playing out side, in the wind, the stand will stay where you put it.

Painting one sounds like a cool idea if you're going to use it at home. But if you're going to use it on stage, it might be better to keep it basic black so it's as invisible as possible.
If you're going to paint it, how about white with some things like bass clefs, silhouettes of some "classic" bass shapes, etc. Or go all punk and cover it top to bottom with stickers.

- Rig it up with a squirt gun that can be operated with a footpump. That way if anyone comes near the stand, you can shoot them with water.
- Stick the cover of a Playboy mag or something like to the outside so it looks like you're looking at porn when reading music.
- Attach some binoculars to the top of the stand, so you can scope out the crowd when you're playing.
- Add flashing LED lights.

Step 1) Tilt top so it's flat.
Step 2) Set beer on top til it is required to grab quickly and drink.

Oops, yeah, brain fart on multiple levels with that suggestion. Though I did offer other TB-friendly suggestions, too.
