I hate most bass amps. I’ve been involved in retail, manufacturing, and distribution for years, and yes, I’ve tried them all. Most of them I’ve used onstage, too. They’re often poorly made, incovenient to use live, seemingly voiced by guys with crack pipes stuffed in their ears, and appear to be a joke played upon bassists at large by the MI industry at large.
That said, the Mesa Subway series sounds amazing onstage as well as at home. They’re practically idiot proof. Well built, with no garish graphics or useless bells and whistles, they get the job done well, are solidly put together, and the amps and cabs are almost weightless. The range was designed by a guy who actually knows what the heck he’s doing, which is rarer than most realize.
Strangely enough, I think that the 15” cab is the best sounding of the bunch, but they’re all winners. Anyway, highly recommended!
