If you wanna stay passive and get a nice, smooth sounding set and not spend a whole lot if cash I would recommend Bartolini 9s.

You are gonna love those nordy noiseless pups. I think they get about as close to the single coils tone as any noiseless I've ever heard. Not perfect but cloooooose.Looks like I found a set of Nordy NJ4SVs for $175 from fellow TBer StreetScenes. Fate has determined it.
Oh Man ! I put EMG -JVX in my American Standard fretless Jazz they sound fantastic, nice and clear and you get the look of passive. I did rout and installed the battery box. If you are not comfortable you can have it done or get an Allparts body but WOW they sound great. the battery will fit under the plate but you have to have the knobs sticking up. so you can try them and if you like them install the battery G' luck...I just bought a vintage modified Jazz fretless, arriving Tuesday. Mostly inspired by Esperanza Spaulding. I got a set of d'addario tapewound nylons to pair up.
I plan on swapping the pups, bridge, neck and tuners.. That's just something I usually do, mostly because it's fun; but, if it's anything like the other squiers I've had, it'll be a huge upgrade, anyway.
First upgrade will be pups. I'd like to keep this bass passive, but willing to consider active if there is a good reason.
For the neck, I'll probably do a custom warmoth Jazz. Lineless Ebony on Gonçalo alves. I'll be looking at the classifieds for something similar, though.
Sooo, name em, boys (and girls)
I looked at those.. pretty pricey for a set, from what I saw. At least, considering there are other nice options like Aguilar and Nordstrand.
I love the Fralins in my jazz. If I had to do it again I'd probably get an overwound bridge but that's it.

Bartolinis have always sounded great on fretless basses, IMO.Ive always been a Bartolini guy. Have them in my Roscoe (placed near the bridge) and love them.
