Suggestions for head/cab for best bright/Geddy Lee tone

Recently I've been trying to get the best bright/Geddy tone possible... I've got his sig. tech 21 preamp, and his MIM sig Jazz bass, but I'm playing through a small fender rumble combo amp right now, which is really not cutting it in terms of sound/power/tone.

Would anyone have any suggestions for a good head and/or cab for this style of playing?

Roughly under 4000? As long as it isn't insanley expensive I'm good for it

Since you have the Geddy pre, maybe nab a power amp to run with it. Lots of good choices - Peavey IPR, Crown, Crest Prolite to name a few.

This and a decent 410 and your are set .
Or two 2 x10 stacked vertically

Yeah, I was thinking an Orange OBC410, just because it was the cab he used during the Time Machine tour

A good used poweramp and a nice pair of 210s will get your chicken washed!

Yeah, I was thinking something similar! I was just thinking of doing a nice 4x10 instead of a pair of 2x10s? Or do you think the 2x10s would get the job done better?

Yeah man, I'm stuck between a pair of 2x10s, or a pair of 2x12s

Make the tone with your right hand and everything else falls in place. I know it sounds like the same old "tone is in your hands" thing, but it IS a huge factor. Bridge the channels on the GED-2112 for one thing, than if you are only playing in your bedroom with no plans of playing out keep the rumble, if not grab a 4x10 and any poweramp. Also a dual band compressor where you can squeeze the highs also helps.

I totally agree. I was just thinking of getting a used power amp and a pair of ampeg svt210avs. The tone is alright with the rumble, just doesn't get loud enough to play with anybody

Yeah, a decent power amp (QSC, etc...) and maybe a pair of the GK NEO 2x12s? I have the 4x12 and it is definitely bright enough to get into Geddy territory. I have gotten a pretty good Lee/Squire sort of tone out of a Sansamp pedal, GK 1001RB, and a Fender Pro 8x10.

Part of me worries about that very serious amp into two small, relatively cheap, cabinets.
