I just wanted to post something about how the great customer service is at Suhr Guitars. I have an incredible Suhr jazz bass that really is the best modern built 4 string I've played. I bought it used (I'm the second owner) and it's become my main bass.

My tech noticed that the neck was warped (it sounds so good I didn't even pay attantion...) and had it sent back to Suhr. I certainly didn't damage the bass, but I was prepared for a bill for the repair. They called me today and said that they would be building me a brand new neck for free and mailing it back to me in a month. John Suhr said that he wanted my bass to be perfect and would take care of everything.

How many builders do that?

I bought mine used for $1800. New, it lists for about $3500 for a standard jazz bass. I don't typically buy new though...there's too much nice stuff floating around used.

I have a Suhr fretless classic J, and it is very nice. Great neck, great finish, just an all-around top notch bass. I am very happy with it.

I haven't had to deal with Suhr customer service yet, but from everything that I have heard, he is a 1st class guy. His basses are certainly fantastic ..

a fretless suhr sounds pretty cool....i wish john gave out endorsements!

I really can't say how happy i am with their basses though. It seems nowadays everyone is chasing a vintage tone from a boutique bass...and this is in my opinion as close as it gets to a classic Fender without paying the 60's Fender price. It has a bit more flexibility in the preamp...but it can also be dialed completely out for a true Fender tone. And it records SO well.

Just got my Suhr back today with the new neck. He did a total overhaul of the bass...cleaned everything up and it's like new now.
No charge whatsoever, he paid for shipping, and even sent me the old tuners for spare parts. Suhr could not have been easier to deal with.

What an incredible instrument. Most people have no idea what they are missing with these basses!

Awesome. It's great to hear of customer service like this!

I actually used to have a Fender Deluxe Jazz bass with a preamp he designed for Fender in it. I was asking about converting it to 18 volt. He was helpful, and responded pretty quickly to e-mails. If I ever get the expendable income, I'll have to consider one of his instruments.

Got a Suhr jazz (used but MINT) and it did not have a string tree. Called Suhr and told them I bought a used Suhr bass and just wondered if my bass should have a string tree. They told me that mine was a custom ordered bass (without a string tree) but they would be glad to send me one. They didn't charge me anything just sent it. A small item and really not a big deal but to them it was because they wanted me to LOVE everything about the bass. That's pretty cool.
Gotta say, I LOVE my Suhr jazz bass.
