@Beej perhaps there should be another category "The Never Ending Build off" for those who didn't finish during the last build off, and in this category finishing is also winning! As someone who didn't finish a refinishing job... this should be encouraging.....

or whatever you think. Just a thought.

I don't see how this would be a problem since:
  1. There are no rules
  2. The rules don't say anything about what could be cut, or finished, in advance of the start of the build (that's only for scratch builds)
...says the guy who will have no time to build anything this summer.

Hmmm.
I was planning to do a scratch build, but kind of cut the neck out a little already. but it wasn’t all intentional. I’m building a guitar for my daughter and a bass for me, and the necks were cut from the same piece of wood. I haven’t finished her guitar yet, but will soon so I can start on the bass.
does this still count as a scratch build?

We could get really stickler-y around these things, but the way I look at it is:
* it was not done to intentionally circumvent rules
* it's very roughly cut (so gives little advantage over other entries)
* we need as many entries as possible!

So I'd say this one should be permitted to enter as a Scratch Build. Anyone has concerns, the topic is open, please feel free to discuss here or PM me. :)

Totally - the running joke is that you can start out as a Scratch Build, not finish and re-enter it as a Partial Build, then not finish and re-enter it again and again as an Assembly Build. :D

Maybe it's not the most explicit running joke, or perhaps I only chuckled to myself at 1am once or twice. :smug:
