So, I'm in the home stretch of finishing the little home office. I went downstairs to get a straight edge that I keep up in the floor joists, above the bench and noticed I still have a hunk of maple long enough for a blank. I didn't measure, but I'd say 3/4x 4x 44. I'd cut it in half and use it as lams.
I also have long pieces of 3/4 cherry cabinet framing. So, I have a maple/cherry neck beam. And I want to order a length of black dyed poplar veneer. That would look nice between the maple/cherry and in the body sammich.
I still have enough mahogany to do 1/2" body cores, or I could laminate poplar boards for a core and do 1/4" mahogany tops and backs. But I'm not crazy about the really straight, large bands of grain in these pieces.
Maybe a trip to rockler and get a big enough piece of poplar to do the body wings and a really pretty piece of cherry for a top?
I dunno, I'm struggling to get this room done and I look at the Lowenbass hanging there everytime I run down in the basement.
I really shouldn't be thinking about what I can build with all my scraps and leftovers.
