Summit TD-100 > CA9 > cabs?

Anyone here use a TD-100 as a front end for a CA9? I'm curious if they match up well. All my basses have extensive on-board EQ, so I'm thinking all I need is a really solid front end to get my tone to where I want it. My Demeter isn't cutting it unfortunately.

So the question is whether or not a TD-100 is good option to use as a preamp, not just a DI.

I haven't tried it with a CA9, but I have tried the TD-100 with a few other power amps and it drove them like a champ. Nice hot output, as long as the tube channel is blended in at least 50% (blend/gain knob at 12:00 or higher).

Thats cool, thanks Bongo! I wondered if it has enough (or too much) juice to drive a poweramp input. From the small amount I've heard (basstasters mostly) it has a great sound, and I dig the simplicity.

Its a little daunting to have no eq in a preamp, but to to be honest, thats about as much functional EQ as my VTBP-201 has. To be fair it does have "some" control, especially the bass, bright, and presence switches, but for the most part its lots of knobs that don't do a whole lot. I would love to see about 2x the gain on the demeter's eq knobs.

Anyone else have experience driving the front end of a live rig with a TD-100

I'm currently using a TD-100 in front of a Berg IP112/EX112 stack for live use. Mine has the "Berg Mod" (which lowers the output a bit to better match the Berg IP) but I think most power amps are looking for a bit hotter input signal to drive them to efficiently, so the standard TD-100 should do the job nicely.

The variable impedance control on the TD-100 works really well with passive instruments.

I'll tell ya, I wish I hadn't sold my Glock pre... At the time I needed something more rock"ish" but as soon as I sold it, I got involved in two new projects where the glock would have been perfect.

Rather than sink 1000 bucks into another used glock, I'm just trying to figure out how to get back that stunning clarity and warmth in a smaller, simpler package..
